As one good phone after another went up in price, recommending one became increasingly difficult. It was like a race against time. But the OnePlus Nord 5 was one phone we could confidently recommend.
OnePlus Nord 5It entered the Nepali market just before prices went haywire, and offered great value. But to our dismay, even the Nord 5 has now succumbed to the pricing plague.
What is the Price of OnePlus Nord 5 in Nepal?
OnePlus Nord 5 was launched alongside the Nord CE 5 on 8 July 2025, the same day as the rest of the world. The 8/256GB variant was priced at Rs 67,999, while the 12/512GB option cost Rs 75,499.
But now, the OnePlus Nord 5 price in Nepal is set at Rs 73,999 (8/256GB) and Rs 79,999 (12/512GB). That’s a Rs 6,000 and Rs 4,500 jump on the lower and higher variants, respectively.
When the OnePlus Nord 5 launched in Nepal, it was quickly labelled “overpriced”. Sure, the pricing wasn’t as attractive as in India, but that’s always the case with OnePlus phones in Nepal.
Personally, I found the pricing rather competitive, especially considering OnePlus Nepal’s past track record. It was good enough for me that I actually recommend it to a friend. She then went ahead and got it for herself, and she hasn’t had complaints with it for many months she’s been using it.

OnePlus Nord 5 Overview
Design
The OnePlus Nord 5’s design is identical to that of the Samsung Galaxy A56 and the Redmi A5 even. All of these phones have a pill-shaped camera island with a very minimal difference, i.e. the placement of the flashlight. Both phones have it beside the camera pill, while OnePlus has its flash inside the island.
This design uniformity begs the question — is it just the case of “Oooh, I am copying this design”? Or do these companies collectively decide on the same kind of design they want to pump out? Or something even wilder, like one large company behind the curtains that designs phones for these brands, and they are slacking?
The point is, I don’t like it when all the phones look the same. I would like to look at a phone and be able to tell what brand it is.
Besides that, OnePlus has ditched the unibody metal design it resurrected last time in favour of the industry-standard glass sandwich. Unsurprising choice, considering that metal interfered with the 5G network and resulted in the phone heating faster, too.
The phone is available in Marble Sands, Dry Ice, and Phantom Grey shades, and offers decent ingress and water protection with an IP65 rating.

Display
For display, the phone has an AMOLED panel with flat edges that stretches 6.83 inches diagonally. The panel is capable of refresh rates of up to 144Hz, and you can apparently experience the same level of smoothness in a handful of games, including BGMI, CODM, and Free Fire MAX.

We are also getting 1.5K resolution, 10-bit colour depth, sRGB and DCI-P3 colour coverage, 1,400 nits of brightness on HBM, and 3,840Hz PWM Dimming. OnePlus is packaging Sun-amp and Wet Touch technology and topping the screen with Gorilla Glass 7i.
Performance
Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is the silicon of choice this time. The architecture of this processor is the same as the 7+ Gen 3 we saw on Nord 4, just a few notches more powerful. So, the computing side of things is looking to be solid.

While this phone is available in multiple variants, Nepal only got two. Those are 8/256GB and 12/512GB, which sounds good enough for me.
Other than that, OnePlus has a vapour chamber with an area of 7,300 mm2, and the graphene density of this cooling unit is apparently on par with that of the OnePlus 13.
Now… the battery is a monstrous 6,800mAh — significantly higher than the 5,200mAh on the global variant. Charging-wise, the phone will juice up at speeds of up to 80W through a wire. No wireless charging, though. The OnePlus Nord 5 supports 5W reverse and bypass charging as well.
Cameras
The cameras seem to be one of the main focuses of OnePlus for the fifth iteration of the highest member in the Nord series this time. To quote the company’s own words, they stole the sensor from the “OnePlus 13 series” and “a 2025 Ultra” for primary and selfie cameras, respectively.
I don’t condone stealing, but if it means consumers get better products, then feel free to steal as much as you like! Anyway, both of the cameras are 50MP units. The main sensor is Sony LYT-700 (aka IMX906), and the selfie snapper is the Samsung ISOCELL JN5.

And the way OnePlus said “a 2025 Ultra”, I initially thought it was Galaxy S25 Ultra, but apparently not. It is Xiaomi 15 Ultra instead, which uses this JN5 sensor for its ultrawide camera.
Back to the OnePlus Nord 5’s camera, one of the key highlights this time is the ability to take 4K 60FPS footage from the back as well as the front. And lastly, the secondary snapper on the back is an 8MP ultrawide unit, which is capable of taking macro shots as close as 3.5cm.
Software and AI
Now, for the software, we are looking at the OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15. Based on my experience reviewing the OnePlus Nord 4, I found the software experience to be a bit meh compared to the company’s flagship offerings. It was a bit more bloatware-prone, and the UI didn’t look as clean either.
Thankfully, that’s not the case this time! Likewise, for futureproofing, we are looking at four years of Android updates and six years of security patches.
OnePlus has also packaged the Nord 5 with its take on AI and is calling it *drum roll* OnePlus AI. The thing that caught my eye the most is this “Mind Space” and “Plus Key“, which is basically the same as Nothing’s Essential Space and Essential Key, except the Plus Key can be configured for other tasks like sound & vibration, DND, Camera/Torch shortcut, and so on.

Now that I think of it, it is closer to Apple’s Action Button than it is to Essential Key, as the latter is its own solitary thing. If you want to get an idea of what this Mind Space does, you can refer to our Essential Key/Space section in our Nothing Phone (3a) series article, as they are very similar.
OnePlus Nord 5 Price in Nepal and Availability
The OnePlus Nord 5 price in Nepal is Rs. 73,999 (8/256GB), and the 12/512GB trim costs Rs. 6,000 on top of that. It is available to purchase at all authorised stores across the country.
| OnePlus Nord 5 | Price in Nepal |
|---|---|
| 8/256GB | Rs. |
| 12/512GB | Rs. |
Highlights of the OnePlus Nord 5 include a 144Hz display, Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, 50MP main and selfie camera with Sony and Samsung sensors, and a massive 6,800mAh battery with 80W fast charging. It was one of the best phones at its price when it launched.
Now that the price has jumped, is it still worth it? Not so much. It has been nearly a year since the phone launched in Nepal. Since then, we’ve seen the likes of POCO F7 arriving in Nepal, which has better hardware mostly and is cheaper. However, OnePlus still holds its own in the software front. So, it’s a matter of what’s more important to you.
