Nothing Headphone (a) Is Finally in Nepal: And It’s Unlike Anything Else

 HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Nothing Headphone (a) price in Nepal is Rs. 26,999.
  • It features a 40mm audio driver with LDAC and Hi-Res audio support.
  • It claims up to 135 hours of battery life with ANC off and up to 75 hours with ANC on.

Nothing launched the Headphone (a) at the “Build Different” event on March 5, alongside the new Phone (4a) series. And now, CG Mobiles, the official distributor of Nothing devices in Nepal, has brought both the phones and the Headphone (a) to the country.

Being the first Nothing headphone to officially arrive in Nepal, I have high hopes for this one.

Nothing first entered the audio market, or more specifically, the headphone market, with a more premium Headphone (1), which sadly did not enter Nepal officially. Now their latest offering, the Headphone (a), is basically a more affordable version with some design changes and slightly downgraded specs.

This is a strategy that Nothing has tried before with their Ear earphone lineup. The Ear (1) was the premium option, while the Ear (a) brought that same Nothing experience to a friendlier price point, delivering the core Nothing feel, solid features, and good sound quality at a price that was hard to argue with.

Now they are applying the same formula to their headphone lineup. So the question is, can Nothing pull off the same trick again? Let’s take a closer look at what it has to offer.

Nothing Headphone (a) Overview

Nothing has always been about standing out, and their design language — clean, futuristic, and unmistakably unique — makes sure of that.

And that philosophy carries right into the Headphone (a) with its signature transparent look. There is also a red square marker on the right ear cup, so you always know which way to wear them.

While most headphones lean into curves and rounded edges, the Headphone (a) takes a different approach with a bold square design, similar to what we saw on the Headphone (1). The cushions are the regular oval shape, and being over-ear headphones, they should offer a snug and comfortable fit.

Nothing Headphone (a) Colors

The headphones come in some eye-catching colors: White, Black, Yellow, and Pink. Honestly, these colors make the headphones feel more like a fashion accessory than an audio device, which could work for someone who wants to pair the pink variant with their Nothing Phone (4a) or match their headphones with their outfit.

But for most Nepali users who just want a reliable pair of headphones, the design might be a little too out there.

The physical controls are quite unique and packed with features. There is a roller that handles volume, playback, and ANC switching. A paddle lets you skip or scrub through tracks. And there is a button that cycles through recent audio apps and can even act as a shutter button to take photos or start and stop video recording. The headphones also support gesture controls and can be controlled via the Nothing X app.

Under the hood, there are 40mm drivers with titanium-coated diaphragms, which help reduce distortion and produce cleaner, more detailed sound. And if you want personalisation, the Nothing X app offers an eight-band parametric EQ to adjust audio levels to your preference. If you don’t want to tinker with it yourself, there are also community-shared EQ profiles to enhance audio quality.

The headphones support Hi-Res audio, both wired and wirelessly via LDAC. They also support SBC and AAC codecs for broader device compatibility. Adaptive ANC was expected at this price range, and it delivers up to 40dB of noise cancellation. For audio input, there are four mics, two hybrid ANC mics on each side. The headphones also feature a dedicated transparency mode, allowing you to hear your surroundings without taking them off.

Battery life is very impressive, with a 1,060mAh total capacity. Nothing claims up to 135 hours of playback without ANC and up to 75 hours with ANC. With LDAC enabled, that drops to 90 hours without ANC and 62 hours with ANC on.

And if you are running low, a quick 5-minute charge via USB-C gives you about 8 hours of playback.

The Nothing Headphone (a) may have launched as a more affordable alternative to the Headphone (1), but in the context of Nepal, the Rs. 27,000 price tag is still not something the average user here would consider spending on a headphone.

But if you are considering it, the Headphone (a) does offer everything you would want from a decent pair of headphones. The design can be a hit or miss depending on your preference, but hardware-wise, it holds its own against premium offerings like the Soundcore Space One Pro.
