Leapmotor T03: New Electric Hatchback Launching Soon in Nepal!

Leapmotor T03 is launching soon in Nepal.

Vainjya Vikash Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of Leapmotor EVs in Nepal, is planning to introduce an all-new Leapmotor EV brand in the Nepali market.

Leapmotor is a Chinese startup automobile manufacturer specializing in developing electric vehicles since its foundation in 2019.

It is one of the popular EV brands in China, collaborating with Stellantis (an Italian-American auto manufacturer) to make its presence in the international market.

Leapmotor Nepal will make its debut with the Leapmotor T03.

Leapmotor T03 is a mini hatchback perfect for maneuvering through narrow streets. It is small car packed with big safety features.

With that said, let’s take a quick look at the Leapmotor T03 in Nepal along with its key specifications for 2024.

Leapmotor T03 Overview

Design

Leapmotor T03 is a compact mini hatchback.

Based on the Leapmotor BEV Platform, it is designed for city commutes and enhanced rideability on narrow streets.

The front section sports Eye-Shaped LED Headlamps with DRLs and LED Indicators. Interestingly, the grille slot in combination with the headlamp housing helps create a friendly face aesthetics.

The bonnet area is small with few converging creases. Moreover, the Charging Port has been placed at the center with Leapmotor Logo branding right above it.

It gets body-colored bumpers for most parts with minimal Black Cladding going all around the vehicle.

The side section still holds the compact styling with a noticeable crease line over the door handles

Interestingly, the rear portion also has an interesting styling element.

It comes with Dotted LED Side Indicators and Semi-Circular Tail Lights. However, the overall creasing and styling do add a level of complexity, creating a polarizing look.

Unfortunately, the interior is bombarded with hard plastics to keep costs down.

The overall interior layout looks very basic. The cost-cutting is very noticeable with the small Digital Infotainment System, Four AC Vents, and minimal styling.

Surprisingly, T03 features a segment-first Sunroof with Motor-controlled Sun Blinds! This is a very rare feature typically not available in this price range.

Despite the compact interiors, there is good enough space for the leg and headroom.

Additionally, Leapmotor T03 comes in White, Pink, Beige, Black, and Cool Mint color options.

Performance

Leammpmoto T03 will be available in two variants: 55 kW and 80 kW Electric Motor.

T03 55 kW variant is powered by a 55kW PMSM, generating a max power of 75 PS. Whereas, the T03 80 kW variant is powered by an 80kW PMSM, generating a max power of around 160 PS. 

It claims a top speed of 100kmph.

Both variants will be supported by a 36.5 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery, claiming a range of 330 Km.

Moreover, it can fully charge in 6.5 to 7 hours with an AC charger and 36 minutes with a DC charger.

While it claims a 330km range, T03 should provide a 250 Km to 300 Km real-world range for normal usage conditions.

Leapmotor T03 offers three riding modes: Eco, Standard, and Sports. 

We are still short on details regarding the overall specs and warranty for now. Nevertheless, we will continue to update this article as more details come to light.

Safety Features

Leapmotor T03 comes equipped with a Leapmotor Pilot L2 Intelligent Driver Assistance System!

Here is a quick breakdown of the safety features in the upcoming Leapmotor T03.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW): Monitors the lane while driving to provide warning alerts to the driver in case of unplanned lane departure.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): Offers continuous support to help keep the vehicle within its lane.

Fatigue Monitoring System (FMS): Uses a face recognition system to continuously monitor the driver and alert them if signs of fatigue are detected.

Adaptive Cruise Control: Enables cruise control that is adaptable based on driving conditions.

Low-Speed Following (LSF): Combines adaptive cruise controls with LSF technology to function like a CoPilot. However, the feature is only available if there is a vehicle at the front.

It is very surprising to see the L2 ADAS safety feature in this price segment. So, it will be interesting to see if the T03 launching in Nepal will include this feature while keeping its aggressive price in check.

Additional Details

Mcpherson Independent Suspension and Torsion Beam Non-Independent Suspensions handle suspension duties.

The dimensions are 3620 mm in length, 1652 mm in width, and 1592 mm in height. Moreover, the wheelbase is 2400 mm.

Leapmotor T03 gets a disappointing 140mm ground clearance. And, the kerb weight is 1190 Kg.

It offers a 210-liter boot space, which is further expandable by folding the rear seats.

Leapmotor T03 Price in Nepal and Availability

Leapmotor T03 price in Nepal is Rs. 24,99,000 for the 55 kW motor variant and Rs. 27,99,000 for the 80 kW motor variant.

T03 offers LFP Battery, Sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS all for a very enticing price point! It remains to be seen if these feature lists will be maintained when it officially launches in the Nepali market.

Interestingly, Leapmotor Nepal has confirmed the prices for both variants. However, the specs, features, and showroom details will be confirmed upon its official arrival.

Leapmotor T03 rivals the Tata Tiago EV.

Tata Tiago EV falls short on the motor and battery capacity. However, it features a larger 166mm Ground Clearance and Larger Boot Space with practical features like a Cooled Glove Box, Reverse Sensor with Reverse Camera, Fully Automatic Temperature Control, and Speed-Sensitive Door Locks.

Tata Tiago is a popular EV in the budget segment in Nepal!

In comparison, the Leapmotor T03 features Better Styling, a Larger Motor, a Larger Battery Capacity, and an Extended Range! Plus, the extra features like the Sunroof, Intelligent Voice Control System, and ADAS Safety Features make it a bit more enticing.

That being said, Tata Tiago EV enjoys a legendary legacy in the Nepali market. It will be interesting to see if Leapmotor can overcome that, especially being a newer and unknown brand in Nepal.
