Beyond the marketing and expectations, the mid-2025-launched Creta Electric felt like a missed opportunity, as Hyundai held back on what it could have delivered. Even so, it marked an important first step for Hyundai Nepal. Now, the higher-spec variants with a bigger motor and battery have arrived in Nepal, but that puts it in the premium bracket.

Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of Hyundai cars in Nepal, has finally played its strongest card with the launch of the Long Range Creta Electric. This addition brings much-needed depth to the lineup, addressing a gap that made the standard version feel incomplete.
As Hyundai India’s first mass-production electric SUV, the Creta Electric represents a key milestone for the brand. More importantly, it simplifies sourcing for Hyundai Nepal, which previously struggled to offer a compelling EV for a market with strong demand for compact e-SUVs. The earlier Kona simply could not keep pace with the scale and expectations of this segment.
Hyundai clearly banks on the strong legacy of the ICE Creta, long one of Nepal’s best-selling SUVs, but the Creta Electric still has to earn its own identity. The lack of a dedicated EV platform, conservative battery development, and restrained pricing strategy limit its competitiveness. Even so, Hyundai’s brand equity in Nepal and its proven ability to support long-term ownership continue to work strongly in its favor.
What is the Price of Hyundai Creta Electric in Nepal?
The Hyundai Creta Electric price in Nepal starts at Rs. 51.96 Lakhs and goes up to Rs. 76.96 Lakhs.
Based on the powertrain, the Creta Electric is offered in Standard and Long Range variants. The Standard version spans three trims, Executive at Rs. 51.96 lakhs, Smart (Optional) at Rs. 56.96 lakhs, and Premium+ at Rs. 59.96 lakhs, while the Long Range lineup includes Smart (Optional) at Rs. 69.96 lakhs and the top-spec Excellence at Rs. 76.96 lakhs.
Hyundai Nepal was slow to introduce the Long Range variant, but its final arrival does improve the lineup with stronger performance and a noticeably better driving range, albeit at a premium price.
At the same time, Hyundai implicitly acknowledged the Standard variant’s weakest link by rolling out BMS updates, which can extend its real-world range by around 15 to 25 kms.

Hyundai Creta Electric Overview
Exterior
The Hyundai Creta Electric draws significant inspiration from its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart primarily because it is built on the modified version of the ICE Creta’s K2 platform. And with the exterior design and bits remaining the same, both siblings look kind of the same. That said, Hyundai’s designers have ensured it aligns with the futuristic design trends of electric vehicles (EVs) through the parametric pixel motif borrowed from the Ioniq lineup.
At the front, the standout features include vertically stacked Dual-Barrel LED headlights capable of projecting 1500 lumens of output, which can be considered good for a compact SUV’s headlights. Above, an LED DRL light bar spans the width, creating a striking visual. However, it misses out on the fog lamps.

The front grille sports a pixelated graphic grille while the lower bumper comes integrated with active air flaps that opens when when cooling is need and it is quite important for improving the thermal management for the liquid-cooled NCM battery pack. Aerodynamically, the front setup is capable of channeling airflow very smoothly over the hood while minimizing turbulence.
From the side, the Creta Electric keeps the ICE model’s stance, closely mimicking the dimensions. It sits on sleek 17-inch “Aero” Alloy wheels, which are said to have a very low rolling resistance. Ground clearance is measured at 200 mm, and the flat underbody lowers the center of gravity by more than 15 mm compared to the ICE Creta, which improves stability.
The rear design also mimics the ICE model. You can see the connected LED tail lamp forming a horizontal light bar, which is just borrowed from the ICE Creta. But for the electric twist, the rear is designed in close familiarity with the front and mirrors the pixel theme of the front.

Additionally, it comes in multiple color options. There are five color options in the metallic theme, namely: Ocean Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Starry Night, and Abyss Black. Furthermore, under the matte theme, there are three color options: Ocean Blue, Titan Grey, and Emerald.
Interior
Credit where it’s due, the Creta Electric’s interior is pretty nicely laid out and is satisfactory. It should be noted, however, that the similarity with the ICE model continues on the inside as well. The Creta Electric retains the familiar dual-tone interior finish and layout. But there are some functional changes.
The most noticeable change is the addition of a drive selector knob, replacing the traditional gear stick, which is pretty evident as to why.
Creta Electric easily fits into the norm of EVs with its dual curvilinear 10.25-inch screens. One serves as the instrument cluster while the other is for infotainment. Moreover, it also supports wireless Android Auto and CarPlay.
Depending on the variant, there are fabric and leatherette seats available. Naturally, the lower trims (Executive trim of the Standard and Smart (O) of the Long Range) feature fabric seats. The disparity continues in terms of other seat functionalities like the power adjustable seats, ventilation, and memory are can not be found in the lower trims and are reserved for the Premium trim of Standard and Smart (O) and Excellence trims of the Long Range variant.

Likewise, the other feature list is spread out among the trim levels of the Creta Electric, and this is the particular reason why there’s an 8 lakh difference among the Standard variant’s trims. But for a complete rundown on the feature list of top trim levels (Smart (O), Premium+, Excellence), refer to the Hyundai Creta Electric feature list section of this article.
Performance
The Creta Electric is originally available in two variants: Standard and Long Range. The Standard variant comes with a 99 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, which makes a max power of 135 PS and a max torque of 255 Nm. It is equipped with a 42 kWh Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese (NCM or NMC) battery pack that offers an MIDC claimed driving range of 390 km.
Furthermore, it comes with a 2.6 kW AC Charger that can charge the vehicle from 0 to 100% in around 17 hours. However, there are 7 kW and 11 kW AC Charger options that have to be purchased separately via a third-party seller accredited by Hyundai Nepal. With the 11 kW AC charger, the SOC can be jumped from 0 to a 100% in just 4 hours.
Hyundai Nepal has called for a battery management system or BMS update on this variant, after which the owners of the Creta Electric can expect a jump in range by 15 to 25 kms. It can be done by visiting your nearest Hyundai service station.
The range gain comes purely from software-level optimization with no changes to the battery or motor hardware. The updated BMS refines state-of-charge (SOC) calculation, thermal management, and cell balancing, allowing more usable energy and better efficiency in real-world Nepali driving conditions. It also fine-tunes power delivery and regenerative braking for urban and hilly roads.

Another recently introduced variant is called the “Long Range” variant. It comes with a more powerful 126 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that can generate a max power of 171 PS and a similar max torque of 255 Nm. Moreover, this variant comes with a 51.4 kWh NCM battery pack, extending the MIDC-tested range to 473 km.
Charging this battery from 0 to 100% using an 11 kW AC charger takes approximately 5 hours. Regarding the (DC) fast charging, both variants can be charged from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes, with a 50 kW DC Charger.
In January 2026, Hyundai India made a quiet improvement on the Creta Electric that boosted its DC fast charging performance. Through a phased OTA software update, Hyundai unlocked higher charging speeds without changing any hardware. DC fast charging increased from roughly 50 kW to up to 100 kW, cutting the 10 to 80% charging time from around an hour to approximately 39 minutes.
However, this particular update is not available for Nepal yet.
Additional Details
McPherson Strut with Coil Spring and Coupled Torsion Beam Axle handle the suspension duties.
The dimensions are 4330 mm in length, 1790mm in width, and 1635mm in height. And, the wheelbase sits at 2610mm. The ground clearance for the Creta Electric is 200 mm. Moreover, it has a frunk space of 22 liters and a boot space of 433-liter.

Rivals
The competition in the compact electric SUV category is insane. All of the major automotive brands have their respective models gunning for this category. But among the myriad of options, the Hyundai Creta Electric faces a stiff comparison with the BYD Atto 3, which is a leader of this segment. For establishing equal grounds, let’s compare the top variants of both models.
First and foremost, because the Creta Electric is adapted from an ICE-based platform, it faces compromises in battery packaging, efficiency, and charging optimization, whereas the BYD Atto 3, built on BYD’s dedicated e-Platform 3.0, benefits from a ground-up EV design that allows better energy management, structural efficiency, and overall performance.
In terms of pricing, the Atto 3 is far more affordable than the Creta Electric, coming in more than 9 Lakhs less. And along with it comes a safer battery chemistry, battery pack size, and features. Moreover, BYD enjoys an early-mover advantage and has a great market acceptance for its EVs.
The Creta Electric boasts superior performance figures due to its 126 kW motor as compared to the 100 kW unit on the Atto 3. But in terms of range figures, there’s an interesting match-up. Hyundai, based on MIDC claims, says that this particular variant of Creta Electric does 473 km while Atto 3 has a WLTP range of 420 km. At first glance, Creta Electric is 53 km better on range.
But the thing to note here is that the MIDC range claims are very generous and tend to deviate a lot in real-world driving conditions. In contrast, WLTP figures are closer to real ones. Based on this, I can even argue that the Atto 3 will give a better range than the Creta Electric, given that the driving conditions remain the same for both of them.
And finally, the feature segment. Well, let’s not go there. You know on whose favor the scale will tip.
