Benco V92 Review: TechLekh Verdict
The Benco V92 stands out as one of the best-looking phones in the budget segment. Its dual-tone leather finish, despite having imperfect stitching, still offers a premium feel for the price.
Additionally, the inclusion of an ultrawide-macro camera in this segment is a pleasant surprise, and Benco has enhanced its camera processing to deliver noticeably better selfies. However, the Unisoc T606 chipset doesn’t offer great value for the price.
Benco V92 features a premium design and decent cameras, but it lags behind in terms of performance.”
If gaming performance is your priority, the Tecno Spark 30C and Redmi 14C are better alternatives. They offer a significantly better experience at a lower price.

Benco V92 price in Nepal is Rs. 16,999 for the single 6GB/256GB variant. It comes in two colorways: Sahara Gold and Space Black.
The Benco V92 features a fresh design with dual dual-tone leather finish on the rear and an 8MP ultrawide macro camera. Apart from that, it shares more or less the same hardware as the V91 Plus.
But can the Benco V92 stand out in the competitive budget segment? Let’s dive in. I’m Anmol Shrestha, and here’s my take on the Benco V92.

Benco V92 Review
Fresh Leather Design
- 166.24 x 76.26 x 8.95 mm
- 203g
A budget phone with a leather back? Yes, the Benco V92 comes with an eye-catching dual-tone leather back. Complementing the leather back, the circular camera module adds to V92’s premium vibe. The details in the camera ring make it look like an expensive phone.
However, everything is not as good as it seems. The leather stitching is not seamless as you can see a gap between the top half and the bottom half of the rear panel. Likewise, the plastic frame has a gold finish which looks good in photos but in real life, it looks a bit cheap.
The right side of the Benco V92 houses the power and volume buttons with the fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button for convenient and reliable unlocking.
Benco V92 has a premium and eye-catching design.
The Benco V92 comes with a dual SIM slot and a dedicated microSD card slot on the left side, allowing for easy storage expansion. The bottom houses a USB Type-C port, a speaker, and the primary microphone, while the top includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and a secondary microphone to enhance call quality.
On the front, it has an outdated drop-notch display, a downgrade from V91 Plus’s hole-punch display.
At Rs. 16,999, the Benco V92 has an amazing design thanks to the leather finish and attractive circular camera ring.
Decent Display
- 6.72 inches LCD
- 1080 x 2400 pixels
- 60Hz refresh rate
The Benco V92 features a larger 6.72-inch IPS LCD panel compared to the Benco V91 and V91 Plus. However, its refresh rate has been reduced from 90Hz to 60Hz. On the bright side, it now boasts an FHD+ resolution, providing sharper visuals than an HD+ panel.
The display delivers decent colors, though the color reproduction appears slightly muted, which is typical for an entry-level smartphone.
The FHD panel is sharp, but the 60Hz refresh rate is a deal breaker.
Benco has not disclosed the peak brightness of the V92’s display. However, when compared to the Redmi 14C, the latter appears to be slightly brighter.
Surprisingly, Benco has removed 90Hz refresh rate support on the V92, despite both the V91 and V91 Plus featuring it. This is a notable omission, as a 90Hz refresh rate is particularly valuable on budget smartphones, enhancing overall smoothness and user experience.
Average Performance
- UNISOC T606 (12nm)
- Octa-core (2×1.6 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.6 GHz Cortex-A55)
- Mali-G57
- 256GB 6GB RAM
Benco’s go-to chipset, the UNISOC T606, powers the Benco V92, just like the V91 and V91 Plus. While it’s a decent choice for entry-level smartphones, manufacturers should consider offering a more powerful chipset for devices priced above Rs. 15,000.
V92 performs decent under normal usage but gaming performance is below par.
The V92 performs well in everyday use, with smooth UI navigation and decent app loading times. This can be attributed to its larger 6GB RAM and faster 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. However, the downgrade to a 60Hz refresh rate makes the device feel less fluid than it is.
In benchmark tests such as AnTuTu 10, GeekBench 6, and 3DMark Wild Life, the Benco V92 delivers decent performance, slightly outperforming the Unisoc T616 chipset found in the Benco V91.
Gaming
During my testing, I played PUBG Mobile with the “Smooth” graphics and “High” fps settings. I averaged 24.2 FPS over 30 minutes of gameplay. For a phone priced at Rs. 16,999, this performance is disappointing.
In comparison, the Tecno Spark 30C outperforms the Benco V92 with a significantly higher average FPS. Additionally, it’s priced lower, making it a better option for gaming.
In conclusion, while the Benco V92 delivers decent overall performance for its price, it falls short in terms of gaming performance when compared to its competitors. Other devices in the entry-level segment offer better gaming performance.
Good Cameras
-
- Rear Camera: 50MP (main), 1/2-inch sensor, f/1.79
- 8MP Ultrawide-macro
- Rear Camera: 50MP (main), 1/2-inch sensor, f/1.79
- Front Camera: 32MP, 1/3-inch sensor, f/2.0
Benco V92 features an outstanding camera setup for the price. It features a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide-macro camera. On the front, there’s a 32MP selfie camera.
Decent Main Camera
Benco has enhanced the image processing on the V92 compared to the V91 and V91 Plus. The photos capture sufficient detail with balanced colors, though the dynamic range remains limited.
The camera shutter speed is still a bit slow, but the focusing time has improved slightly over its predecessors.
Disappointing Portrait Mode
I liked the portrait photos from the V91 Plus, but the portraits from the V92 appear a bit unnatural. While subject separation is generally decent, it struggles in more complex scenarios, leading to poor subject isolation. Additionally, the blur effect looks artificial, almost as if it was edited using Photoshop, rather than a natural bokeh effect.
Good Ultrawide Macro
It’s surprising to find an ultrawide macro camera on a budget phone priced at Rs. 16,999, as this feature is typically reserved for slightly more expensive phones costing over Rs. 25,000.
The inclusion of the ultrawide macro camera alone adds significant value to the device. What’s more, the ultrawide photos are quite decent, and the macro shots are even better, with good detail. The images could be improved further with just a touch more saturation.
Good Front Camera
The selfie camera on the Benco V92 is good for its price. It captures a decent amount of detail on the face, though there is a noticeable bit of sharpening. Surprisingly, the Redmi 14C has more sharpening compared to the V92. Overall, I prefer the selfies from the Benco V92 over those from the Redmi 14C.
Videos
- 1080@30fps
The Benco V92’s main camera captures 1080p video at 30fps, but the quality is as expected from a budget phone. The footage lacks detail and sharpness, often appearing flat with significant noise and crushed shadows. Color accuracy is weak, and videos suffer from noticeable shakiness.
Battery and Speaker
- 5000mAh
- 18W wired charging
The Benco V92 is equipped with a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. The 18W charger is included in the box.
For its price, the Benco V92 offers decent battery life.
Thanks to its 5000mAh battery and power-efficient chipset, the Benco V92 delivers up to two days of battery life with moderate use. During mixed usage, including an hour of gaming, I managed around 6 hours of screen time. However, charging isn’t very fast, taking about 2.5 hours for a full charge.
The single speaker is adequately loud, but the sound quality is merely average.
Software
- Android 14
- INONE UI
Benco has finally decided to upgrade its OS with Android 14 and INONE UI.
Benco V92 comes with Android 14 out of the box.
The INONE UI on the Benco V92 has a refreshed and cleaner design, making it easier to use. The UI is more mature thanks to the Android 14 and there are more personalization features than before.
One feature I noticed is the wallpaper-based color theming, which is meant to adjust icon and text colors to match the wallpaper. This is similar to the accent color feature found on some other phones. However, the color changes are quite limited—only icon colors and certain menu headings adapt, while the notification bar and quick toggle icons remain unchanged.
Benco deserves credit for keeping its phone free of bloatware—it doesn’t even include its own Gallery app. Additionally, it offers a Smart Window feature that provides updates on ongoing tasks like face unlock, background calls, and charging status. Similarly, the updated INONE UI includes an App Clone feature, enabling users to switch between two accounts on popular apps like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Benco hasn’t specified the software update cycle for the V92. However, it does offer a 100-day replacement warranty, which is a commendable move.
