Asus ROG Strix G18 (2024) Overview

Design

The 2024 ROG Strix G18 looks quite similar to the 2023 ROG Strix G18. You can get the laptop with or without green accents in the ROG logo and a “paint specking pattern” right above the rear exhaust ports.

It also features a triple fan cooling technology with 7 heat pipes and Thermal Grizzly’s Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal as the thermal paste.

Display

The Asus Rog Strix G18 2024 sports an 18-inch IPS LCD anti-glare display with a 2.5K (WQXGA) resolution (2560 x 1600 pixels).

This is a ROG Nebula display which means the display has a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, 500 nits’ brightness with up to 1,100 nits of peak brightness and covers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut for vibrant images. It also supports Dolby Vision and is Pantone Color validated.

Hardware and Connectivity

The Asus Rog Strix G18 (2024) houses the 14th Gen Intel Core i9 14900HX processor. It is a 24-core, 32-thread processor consisting of 8 performance cores (2.2–5.8GHz clock speed) and 16 efficient cores (1.6–4.1GHz clock speed). The new processor uses the same Raptor Lake architecture with an improvement on faster clock speeds by tweaking the voltage/frequency curve.

The processor is paired with Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU which features specialized AI Tensor cores. The 8GB RTX 4070 GPU can boost up to 2225MHz clock speed at 140W. Asus has included a MUX switch, which bypasses the integrated GPU and connects directly to the dedicated high-performance GPU, to unlock the full performance of the laptop.

It has up to 65W TDP. The variant in Nepal features a 16GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM RAM and a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD.

The G18 2024 supports triple-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. It has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

Battery

The Asus ROG Strix G18 (2024) comes with a 4-cell Li-ion 90Wh battery. The laptop supports USB Type-C charging up to 100W. The battery department sees no significant changes on this new model.
