Apple Watch Series 8 Price Dropped in Nepal

Apple revealed the Apple Watch Series 8, along with the new Apple Watch Ultra and second-gen Apple Watch SE, on September 7, 2022. All three watches were launched in Nepal in May 2023. And now, EvoStore, Apple’s authorized reseller in Nepal, has cut the price of the Series 8 in Nepal by Rs. 7,500.

The Apple Watch Series 8 is a successor to the Apple Watch Series 7. The Series 8 has the same design and display as its predecessor. It brings new temperature-sensing capabilities and crash detection, and it runs on watchOS 9.

Apple Watch Series 8 Overview

Design and Display

Design-wise, the Apple Watch Series 8 is identical to its predecessor, the Apple Watch Series 7, which has a bigger screen size and narrower bezels than the Series 6 released in 2020.

Similar to the Series 7, the Series 8 is available in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm. It boasts an IP6X dust-resistance rating and is water-resistant up to 50m (WR50).

On the right side, there is a button and a digital crown equipped with haptic feedback and a built-in electrode.

The Always-On Retina LTPO OLED display remains the same, although the Series 8’s slightly curved display sets it apart from the flat display of the Apple Watch Ultra.

The GPS+Cellular model offers both the aluminum case option with an Ion-X glass front and the stainless steel case option with a sapphire crystal front. However, the GPS model is available only with the aluminum case and Ion-X glass front.

Aluminum case colors for Apple Watch Series 8 include starlight, midnight, silver, and (PRODUCT)RED, while the stainless steel case offers silver, graphite, and gold.

Health and Features

Starting with the new health features, the Series 8 watch comes with new temperature-sensing capabilities. The watch has two sensors — one sensor on the back of the watch, nearest the skin, and another just under the display — reducing bias from the outside environment.

Utilizing the new sensors, the Watch Ultra can provide retrospective ovulation estimates and period predictions for women who menstruate. Apple says, with iOS 16 and watchOS 9, Cycle Tracking users can now receive a notification if their logged cycle history shows a possible deviation.

The car crash detection feature featured in the new iPhone 14 lineup, is also in the new Apple Watch lineup. The Watch can detect a severe car crash using new high-g accelerometer and gyroscope sensors — in addition to a barometer, microphone, and GPS — and a sensor-fusion algorithm.

After detecting a severe car crash, the watch will alert the user’s emergency contacts with the device’s location if the user is unresponsive for more than 10 seconds.

Moreover, it has all the other basic health features you expect from a smartwatch such as heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring, and sleep tracking. The ECG feature remains unavailable in Nepal.

Hardware

The Apple Watch Series 8, Watch SE, and Watch Ultra are all powered by the S8 SiP.

The S8 SiP features the same dual-core CPU as the S6 and S7 chips that debuted in the 2020 Apple Watch Series 6 and 2021 Apple Watch Series 7, without any speed improvements.

In terms of memory, it offers 32GB of internal storage.

Software

The watch comes pre-installed with watchOS 9, which introduces various new features.

watchOS 9 brings a redesigned Compass app, introduces new in-session views in the Workout app, provides additional insights such as sleep stages with sleep tracking, and offers an improved Medications experience, among others.

Connectivity and Battery

The Apple Watch Series 8 has the latest Bluetooth 5.3 and dual-band Wi-Fi 4 support.

Apple claims that the battery can last up to 18 hours on a single charge.

Additionally, Apple states that the new Low Power Mode, introduced in watchOS 9, can extend the battery life to reach up to 36 hours when used with an iPhone. This mode temporarily disables or limits select sensors and features, including the Always-On Retina display, workout autostart, heart health notifications, and more.

Apple Watch Series 8 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Apple Watch Series 8 price in Nepal is Rs. 68,000 (41mm, GPS) and Rs. 72,000 (45mm, GPS). EvoStore has dropped the price of the watch from Rs. 75,500 and Rs. 79,500, respectively.

Apple Watch Series 8 Price History in Nepal

The Apple Watch Series 8 is the successor to the Apple Watch Series 7, featuring incremental updates. It retains the same design, display, and performance as its predecessor.

Notable new features include two body temperature sensors and crash detection. It operates on watchOS 9, which is also compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and later models.
