And now, EvoStore, Apple’s authorized reseller in Nepal, has cut the price of the Series SE in Nepal by Rs. 5,000.

Apple Watch SE 2 Overview

Design and Display

The Apple Watch SE 2 still has the old design with thicker bezels than the Watch Series 8. It is available in 40mm and 44mm sizes and unlike the glossy back in the Apple Watch SE 2020, the Apple Watch SE 2022 now has a matching matte back made from a nylon composite material.

The watch has an aluminum frame and comes in three color options: midnight, starlight, and silver. The display also is the same LTPO OLED Retina with a brightness of up to 1000nits and no always-on screen feature.

The SE 2 has a water-resistance rating of up to 50 meters. However, unlike the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra, it does not possess an IP rating for dust resistance.

Health and Features

The Apple Watch SE is equipped with Apple’s second-generation optical heart rate sensor, capable of monitoring heart rate and providing notifications for high or low heart rate and irregular rhythm.

In addition, it offers workout and activity tracking, sleep tracking, and fall detection. The SE 2 also features the same motion sensor as the Series 8, enabling crash detection support.

However, unlike the Series 8, it does not include a blood oxygen sensor or temperature sensor. Additionally, the ECG reading feature is absent, although it was already unavailable in Nepal, even on supported devices.

Hardware

The 2nd Gen Apple Watch SE is powered by the same S8 System in Package (SiP) that is in the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra.

Compared to the previous Apple Watch SE, Apple claims the S8 SiP enables the 2020 Apple Watch SE to be 20 percent faster. In terms of memory, it offers 32GB of internal storage.

The S8 SiP features the same dual-core CPU as the S6 and S7 chips that debuted in the 2020 Apple Watch Series 6 and 2021 Apple Watch Series 7.

Software

The watch comes pre-installed with watchOS 9, which introduces various new features.

watchOS 9 brings a redesigned Compass app, introduces new in-session views in the Workout app, provides additional insights such as sleep stages with sleep tracking, and offers an improved Medications experience, among others.

Connectivity and Battery

The Apple Watch Series 8 has the latest Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 4 support.

Apple claims that the battery can last up to 18 hours on a single charge.

Additionally, Apple states that the new Low Power Mode, introduced in watchOS 9, can extend the battery life. This mode temporarily disables or limits select sensors and features, including the Always-On Retina display, workout autostart, heart health notifications, and more.

The Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) is a refresh of the 2020 Apple Watch SE. It has the same aluminum design and LTPO OLED Retina display with a new matching back made of nylon composite material.

It has workout and activity tracking, is water-resistant up to 50m, has a heart rate sensor, and has fall detection. Like the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra, it also includes the new crash detection and S8 SiP.

Compared to more expensive Apple smartwatches, it misses out on the always-on display, IP rating, blood oxygen sensor, and new temperature sensor.
