Generation Next, the official distributor of Apple in Nepal, has dropped the price of the MacBook Pro 16-inch (M1 Pro) by Rs. 5,000.

Now, MacBook Pro 16 price in Nepal is Rs. 3,75,000 (M1 Pro, 10-Core CPU, 16-Core GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) and Rs. 4,05,000 (M1 Pro, 10-Core CPU, 16-Core GPU, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD). It can be purchased via Oliz Store and Evo Store.

The 16-inch MacBook Pro debuted in Nepal in November 2021. Apple first announced it on October 18 during a virtual Unleashed event. Along with the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, Apple also unveiled the 14-inch MacBook Pro and AirPods 3.

Here, we’ll look at the specifications, features, and availability of the 16-inch MacBook Pro in Nepal.

Design

The 16-inch MacBook Pro measures 16.8mm thickness and weighs 2.1 kg (M1 Pro) and 2.2 kg (M1 Max). The MacBook Pro’s aluminum enclosure, according to Apple, is meant to circulate 50% more air than the previous model, even at lower fan speeds.

The Magic keyboard that comes with the MacBook Pro is now set in a black keyboard well. Apple also ditched the touch bar and now features traditional function keys, which was a popular request.

Talking about the popular requests, Apple has finally listened and brought back the ports. In addition to a 3.5mm headphone jack and three Thunderbolt 4 connections, it now offers an HDMI port, an SD card slot, and a redesigned MagSafe 3 charger.

Display

The MacBook Pro features a Liquid Retina XDR display for the first time. The 16.2-inch display uses a mini-LED technology, which can provide up to 1,000 nits of sustained brightness and 1,600 nits of peak brightness.

The side and top borders have also been reduced to just 3.5mm. But, it now has a notch on the top that houses a 1080p camera.

Also, the ProMotion technology found in the iPad Pro and recently announced iPhone 13 Pro series has now made its way to the MacBook Pro. It allows the display on the MacBook Pro 16-inch to have an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

Its XDR display has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, P3 wide colour gamut, and supports one billion colour, thanks to the 10-bit colour panel.

Hardware

Same as the MacBook Pro 14-inch, the 16-inch models also feature Apple’s powerful SoCs: M1 Pro and M1 Max.

However, unlike 14-inch one, the M1 Pro-equipped 16-inch Macbook Pro only has just a 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU option. The M1 Max, on the other hand, features the same 10-core CPU as the M1 Pro but with a choice of a 24 or 32-core GPU.

Apple claims that the M1 Pro and M1 Max have up to 70% better CPU performance than the M1. Furthermore, M1 Pro has a 2x faster GPU performance than M1 and M1 Max has up to 4x faster GPU performance than M1.

It comes standard with 16GB unified memory and 512GB of SSD storage. You can configure it with up to 64GB unified memory and 8TB SSD storage.

Battery

The 16-inch MacBook Pro has a 99.6Wh battery and Apple claims it can play movies for up to 21 hours on a single charge. It also supports fast charging and comes with a 140W USB-C Power Adapter and a USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable.

It can also be charged via a USB-C port.

Earlier, both the variants were Rs. 5,000 more expensive.

Other variants of the MacBook Pro 16″ are not yet available in Nepal.
