KTM Nepal made a surprise launch at the NAIMA Mobility Expo 2025, unveiling not just one but four new models for the year. While most of the spotlight fell on the much-anticipated 390 Adventure and 390 Enduro R, both are priced aggressively yet still firmly in premium territory. For those seeking a balance on a tighter budget without compromising on the capability and adventure DNA, meet the 2025 KTM Adventure 250.

Hansraj and Hulaschand & Co., the authorized distributor of KTM Bikes in Nepal, has launched the all-new 2025 KTM 250 Adventure for the Nepali market. The latest update makes the 250 Adventure not only appealing but also practical.

The design takes clear inspiration from the Dakar Rally styling seen on the updated 390 Adventure. Under the bodywork, it shares the new 250cc LC4c SOHC engine and TFT display with the Duke 250, which was praised for its refinement, improved power delivery, and usability.

A major highlight is the updated platform, which tweaks the Steel Trellis Frame and bolt-on Aluminum Subframe to suit the segment’s needs. This flexible chassis setup allows KTM to adjust ground clearance, seat height, and wheelbase across both the 250 and 390 models, despite them sharing the same core frame.

As a result, the 250 Adventure now boasts 28mm higher ground clearance while lowering the seat height by 30mm. Combined with improved suspension setup, this is easily the most significant upgrade for KTM’s adventure lineup in recent years.

Unlike the multiple variants of the 390 Adventure and 390 Enduro R available in the international markets, there is only one version of the KTM 250 Adventure, keeping things simple.

With its latest update, the KTM 250 Adventure looks set to raise the bar for the 250cc adventure segment. The real question is whether it can offer something truly unique for riders who are budget-conscious yet unwilling to compromise on excitement. Let’s find out!

KTM Adventure 250 Overview

Design

The 2025 KTM 250 Adventure stays true to the brand’s aggressive “Ready to Race” philosophy but adds a fresh twist. This time, KTM has taken inspiration from its Dakar Rally machines, a design language first seen on the updated 390 Adventure.

The front profile has been completely reworked. A vertically stacked high-intensity LED projector headlight now takes center stage, flanked by LED DRL strips mounted outside the unit, similar to the new Duke 390.

A large yet compact windshield has been aerodynamically shaped to offer wind protection without obstructing the rider’s view, enhancing both function and road presence.’

Protective handguards and a beak-like front section underline its off-road intent. While the design is slightly more complex than before, it still blends sharp lines, minimal bodywork, and a tall stance that conveys confidence on trails without losing street-friendly proportions.

From the side, the seat is now a single-piece unit with improved cushioning, replacing the split-type seat of the previous model. The rider section has been sculpted for better ergonomics. The tubular trellis frame is now finished in black rather than KTM’s signature orange, giving it a more understated but purposeful look.

The 250 Adventure continues to ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tubeless alloy wheels. But swaps the previous MRF Mogrip Meteor tyres for Apollo Tramplr XR knobby tyres, which offer improved traction off-road.

Open-teeth footpegs with removable rubber inserts provide secure footing in all conditions, and a lightweight aluminium bash plate offers practical protection without unnecessary bulk. Like the Duke 250, it features a high-mounted underbelly exhaust that aids weight distribution, maximizes ground clearance, and supports better control.

The rear is kept simple with a sleek LED taillight and sturdy pillion grab rails. KTM has also used durable, scratch-resistant plastics throughout, available in Electronic Orange and Ceramic White color schemes with bold graphics over matte finishes.

Instrument Meter

The 2025 KTM 250 Adventure also receives an upgraded instrument cluster in the form of a 5-inch full-colour TFT display. It shows all the essential readouts, including fuel level, odometer, speedometer, gear position indicator, engine temperature, and more.

Information can be toggled and customised via handlebar-mounted controls. Riders can also adjust settings for the Quick Selector, connectivity, shift light, and quickshifter directly from the display menu. When KTM Connect is enabled, the system supports call alerts, music control, and turn-by-turn navigation.

Two display layouts are available: Standard and Reduced. The Reduced mode is tailored for off-road use, presenting only the most essential information, such as gear position, speed, time, and fuel level, ensuring minimal distraction while riding on challenging terrain.

Performance

KTM Adventure 250 is powered by a 248.8cc, Single-Cylinder, Liquid-cooled, DOHC, FI engine. It can generate a max power of 31PS at 9250rpm and a max torque of 25Nm at 7250rpm.

Moreover, it is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with 14.5 liters of fuel capacity.

It’s the same engine found in the next-gen Duke 250. KTM has gone with a SOHC configuration instead of the older DOHC setup, developing this motor specifically for the new 250 lineup.

The upgrades go beyond just numbers on a spec sheet. KTM has fitted a smaller cylinder head with a new thermostat mounted directly onto it. This setup improves thermal monitoring, helping the engine maintain an optimal operating temperature. As a result, the motor can run a higher compression ratio, delivering better refinement while noticeably reducing vibrations.

It also translates into performance gains. Power is up by 1 PS, now delivered at a slightly higher 250 rpm, while torque also increases by 1 Nm, arriving 250 rpm earlier.

Adventure-focused features like Ride-by-Wire, Assisted Slipper Clutch, and Off-Road ABS carry over from the previous model. However, KTM has added Quickshifter+ for clutchless shifts, a welcome addition that was missing before. One feature we were hoping to see was cruise control, but for now, KTM continues to reserve that for the 390 Adventure.

Additional Details

The KTM Adventure 250 continues with the 43mm USD WP APEX front forks and WP APEX rear shock with a 10-step preload adjustment.

While the core suspension setup remains the same, there are notable upgrades. The rear is now an offset monoshock, and suspension travel has been increased from 170mm to 200mm at the front, and from 177mm to 205mm at the rear. This new setup matches the KTM 390 Adventure X, in turn, tuning the 250 Adventure to be more capable on rough, off-road terrain than before.

Exact dimensions haven’t been disclosed, but KTM has confirmed key differences. As stated earlier, the ground clearance now stands at 228mm, paired with a more accessible 825mm seat height. And, the kerb weight is 176kg.

The KTM 250 Adventure is up against the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX and the Hero XPulse 210, which are both strong contenders in the growing 200–250cc adventure touring category.

KTM holds an advantage with a power output of 31 PS and torque of 25 Nm, outperforming the V-Strom’s 26.5 PS and 22.6 Nm, as well as the XPulse 210’s 24.6 PS and 20.7 Nm. The Austrian brand also excels in off-road readiness, offering an impressive ground clearance of 228 mm and a rider-friendly seat height of 825 mm.

In comparison, the V-Strom provides 205 mm of clearance with an 835 mm seat height, while the Hero offers 220 mm of clearance and an 830 mm seat height. This means the 250 Adventure delivers more ground clearance while making it accessible for average-height riders. This additional clearance, along with KTM’s suspension tuning, makes it a better choice for tackling rough trails.

Many modern “adventure” bikes, such as the Honda NX200 and Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX, lean heavily towards stiffer, road-focused setups. In practice, they are often closer to naked bikes dressed in adventure styling.

The upcoming Hero XPulse 210, however, has the potential to break that mold. It promises more than just the right looks, aiming to deliver genuine off-road performance. Even with the lowest power figures in its class, it brings serious off-road hardware: long-travel suspension, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tubed spoke wheels, and a chassis built specifically for dual-purpose.

The KTM 250 Adventure currently sits in the middle ground, offering a solid balance of performance, capability, and features, though at a higher price than its rivals. If Hero Nepal manages to price the XPulse 210 less than the V-Strom’s Rs. 5.99 lakh, it could quickly build the same strong following that the XPulse 200 enjoyed, and possibly push the 250 Adventure out of its comfortable position. For now, the KTM remains one of the most well-rounded choices in this segment.
