The Apple Watch Ultra 4 has finally arrived in Nepal, following its global launch in September 2026. As the successor to the Ultra 3, expectations are pretty high.

The Ultra 3 had earned a solid reputation as an adventure watch. But there was one thing that made potential buyers think twice: battery life.
Sure, it lasted longer than a regular Apple Watch. But for a watch built for long adventures, its endurance still left something to be desired, especially compared with the competition.
Now, a year later, Apple has another shot at getting things right. Can the Ultra 4 address the Ultra 3’s shortcomings and make a stronger case for itself? Because when a watch costs this much, being good is one thing. Giving people a real reason to upgrade is another.
What is the Price of the Apple Watch Ultra 4 in Nepal?
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 price in Nepal is Rs. 1,78,500. Although it has already appeared in Apple’s Watch lineup, it isn’t available for purchase just yet.
For now, buyers can register their interest, with the watch expected to arrive in Nepal soon. You can also contact Apple’s authorized distributors for availability.
The Ultra 4 starts at the same price as the Ultra 3, which is a welcome move. Still, that is a hefty price for a smartwatch, and at this cost, it needs to offer more than just an Ultra badge on your wrist.
The Ultra lineup has generally lived up to its rugged, feature-packed reputation, but its predecessors haven’t been without their shortcomings. So, I’m curious to see what Apple has improved this time around, and whether anything that needed fixing has been left untouched.
Let’s take a closer look!
Apple Watch Ultra 4 Overview
Apple has kept the Watch Ultra’s design remarkably consistent across generations. Put the Ultra 4 and Ultra 3 side by side, and you’d be hard-pressed to tell them apart. Both retain the same 49mm Grade 5 titanium case, raised Digital Crown housing, and orange Action button.
The Ultra 4 is available in Natural Titanium and Black Titanium, both with a satin finish. The black version gets a diamond-like carbon coating for added scratch resistance, while the titanium case is 3D-printed layer by layer to reduce material waste.
The Ultra’s design has its perks beyond looking rugged, too. Its exclusive Wayfinder and Modular Ultra watch faces make good use of the large display. Wayfinder doubles as a compass and turns red in Night Mode for better visibility in the dark, while Modular Ultra squeezes extra information like seconds, altitude, and depth around the screen’s outer edge.
The Ultra 4 is actually slightly heavier. The Natural Titanium version goes from 61.6 grams on the Ultra 3 to 63 grams, while the Black Titanium version jumps from 61.8 to 63.1 grams.
The Ultra 3 was already criticised for feeling bulky; adding weight isn’t exactly the direction we’d have hoped for. So, I think complaints about comfort and wearability will continue on this one as well.

The Ultra 4 carries over the Ultra 3’s 49mm Always-On Retina OLED display with LTPO3 technology, 3,000-nit peak brightness, and 1-nit minimum brightness. Its flat sapphire crystal is more scratch-resistant than the Ion-X glass used on the Apple Watch SE and the Ceramic Shield 2 found on aluminium Series 12 models.
The Ultra 4 carries forward its predecessor’s strongest features. It’s designed to operate in temperatures ranging from –20°C to 55°C and has been tested against selected MIL-STD-810H environmental conditions.
It also carries an IP6X dust-resistance rating and WR100 water resistance, with support for high-speed water sports and recreational scuba diving to 40 meters under the EN13319 standard.
Those numbers look mind-blowing, but they aren’t major upgrades, since the Ultra 3 already offered all these core display and durability features.

The Ultra 4 gets Apple’s newer S11 chip, replacing the Ultra 3’s S10. But internal cores and the 64GB storage remain unchanged. Instead, Apple is putting more focus on what the chip can do, with improved step tracking, smarter health features, and new Audio Intelligence tools.
One of the more interesting additions is Live Rewind, which lets you revisit a transcript of the previous 15 seconds of a conversation, alongside Siri Recap for summarising key points.
Sorry to kill the joy, but Live Rewind and Siri Recap won’t arrive until beta in late 2026, and you’ll need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone 16 or later (excluding the iPhone 16e) to use them.

The Ultra 4 features a new Health Sensing System which measures heart rate every five seconds throughout the day, while HRV readings are available up to 24 times more frequently than on the Ultra 3. Apple claims it offers the most accurate heart-rate tracking of any Apple Watch to date.
Another interesting addition is Readiness, a score from 0 to 10 that considers your recent activity, training load, vital measurements, and sleep. It then suggests whether to recover, pace yourself, or go for it.
Apple has also redesigned its step-counting system to improve step counts and distance estimates, particularly during indoor walks and runs. The Ultra 4 retains ECG readings, blood oxygen monitoring, temperature sensing, sleep stages, and sleep scores, alongside notifications for possible sleep apnoea and hypertension.
But these aren’t exclusive perks to the Ultra 4 only, as the standard Apple Watch Series 12 also gets the new Health Sensing System, Readiness, and improved step tracking, too.

For outdoor activities, the Ultra 4 offers dual-frequency GPS, offline maps, compass waypoints, and Backtrack to retrace your route. Apple claims it delivers the most accurate GPS of any sports watch, though the Ultra 3 already had dual-frequency GPS.
It supports running, cycling, swimming, and recreational diving up to 40 metres. The Depth app tracks depth and water temperature, while Fall Detection, Crash Detection, Emergency SOS, and an 180-metre emergency siren add safety features.
Satellite connectivity could be useful for remote treks, but Emergency SOS via satellite isn’t currently supported in Nepal. Many of these outdoor features also carry over from the Ultra 3.

Battery life has long been one of the Apple Watch Ultra’s biggest weak points. With the Ultra 4, Apple has finally squeezed out more endurance.
It lasts up to 50 hours, compared with 42 hours on the Ultra 3. That’s an extra eight hours, or roughly a 19% improvement. Low Power Mode now stretches battery life to 84 hours, while Max Extended Workout supports up to 45 hours of tracking.
Charging has improved, too, with a 15-minute top-up offering up to 18 hours of use, compared with 12 hours on the Ultra 3.
But Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 pulls ahead on battery life. Samsung rates it for up to 60 hours with Always-On Display enabled and 80 hours with it disabled. It also supports fast charging, reaching 40% in around 30 minutes.

The Apple Watch Ultra 4 runs watchOS 27 and is designed to work with compatible iPhones. Apple lists compatibility with the iPhone 11 or later, including the second-generation iPhone SE or later, running iOS 27 or later.
It supports cellular connectivity, 5G, dual-frequency GPS, Bluetooth 5.3, and a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. The latter supports features such as Precision Finding for a misplaced compatible iPhone.
But there is a practical limitation: the Ultra 4 isn’t designed for Android users. If your phone runs Android, this isn’t the smartwatch to buy, no matter how impressive its specifications look on paper.

So, has Apple finally fixed the Ultra’s battery problem? Not quite. The jump from 42 to 50 hours is a step in the right direction, but it still falls short of what some competitors offer. For a watch built for long adventures, there’s still room for improvement.
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 is undoubtedly a more capable package, with improved health tracking, a Readiness score, and better battery life. But with the same familiar design, largely unchanged outdoor features, and several health upgrades also available on the Series 12, it doesn’t feel like a major leap forward.
At this price, it is still a serious investment. If you already own the Ultra 3, the improvements probably aren’t compelling enough to justify an upgrade. But if you’re buying your first premium Apple Watch and need its rugged build, advanced fitness tracking, and diving features, the Ultra 4 makes a stronger case for itself.
