Recently Oppo launched the A9 2020 and A5 2020 in Nepal. And not even 2 weeks passed, Oppo is already in talks to release the 2nd iteration of the Reno Series. After the overwhelming response of the first generation’s Oppo Reno 10x zoom, Oppo has been gearing up to launch the second-generation lineup of the Reno series in Nepal. This lineup includes three different devices, the Oppo Reno 2, Reno 2z and Reno 2F.
As of now, the company has only mentioned that it will be releasing the phones soon. Launch date hasn’t been confirmed yet but the devices should be launched within October. The prices haven’t been confirmed yet as well.
As per their launch in India, the Reno 2 was launched for INR 36,990, the Reno 2Z was launched for INR 29,990 and the Reno 2F was launched for INR 25,990. Hopefully, the pricing will be similar (most probably – convert INR to NPR).
So, what secrets do these new devices hold? Well, Let’s find out.
Oppo Reno 2
The Oppo Reno 2 is a direct successor to the previous generation’s Oppo Reno. The phone is almost similar in terms of overall design. Looking at the front, the devices are exactly alike. On the rear however, is the quad camera setup on the Oppo Reno 2 and the glossy finish, which is the main differentiating factor in terms of design. For display, the Reno 2 has a 6.5” AMOLED screen that supports FHD 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution.
Under the hood, the Reno 2 features a Snapdragon 730G, the so-called gaming processor paired with 8GB RAM. In comparison, the processor is definitely an upgrade in flexibility to previous generations 710 processor with 8GB RAM. In addition, the Reno 2 also features a 4000mAh battery life over last iteration 3765mAH battery. For storage, the phone features a 256Gb in-built storage.
The rear features a quad camera configuration with 48MP at its center surrounded by 13MP telephoto, 8MP ultrawide and 2MP B/W sensor. Under the shark fin setup is a 16MP front camera which is similar to the previous generation.
Oppo Reno 2Z
The Reno 2z is more of a high-end midranger than a flagship. Most of its features are identical to the Reno 2. For instance, they both have a 4000mAh battery, 8/256GB storage, and quad camera setup.
However, there are differences in terms of design, processor and the telephoto lens that makes the Reno 2 a bit better that the Reno 2z. Unlike the Reno 2, the Reno 2z does not feature a shark fin motorized camera. Rather it has a simple pop-up mechanism.
In terms of processor, the Reno 2z features Helio P90 processor. The Helio P90 processor is slower in comparison to the Snapdragon 730g processor. Finally, the Reno 2z features a 2MP telephoto lens while the Reno 2 features a 13MP telephoto lens.
Oppo Reno 2F
The Oppo Reno 2F is the third in line on the Reno 2 series. The Reno 2F is more identical to the 2Z. In terms of camera, battery and design, they are similar to one another.
On the other hand, the phone does lack in terms of processor and storage variant The Reno 2F features a Helio P70 processor paired alongside 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Reno 2F also features the same quad camera layout with 48MP lens at its center alongside 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth sensor and 2 MP telephoto lens.
At last…
Well, that’s all about these devices. Among the three, I’m most interested to see how great the Reno 2 actually is. On paper, the specifications do look impressive and if launched at a reasonable price, this device has the possibility of becoming a huge hit amongst people.
We’ll review the devices once they’re launched in Nepal. Till then, let us know your thoughts on the Reno 2 series in the comments below.
