CG Launches The Brand-new OMEGA 6 “Three Camera Phone” in Nepal

CG Mobile, a beloved brand among Nepalese people, has released a new smartphone aimed at the budget market, CG OMEGA 6. This phone is the third in the OMEGA lineup from CG after the successful launches of OMEGA 3 and OMEGA 8. Priced just below the 10K mark at Rs. 9,977 this phone offers great value for the money.

Specification Outline

Under the hood, OMEGA 6 packs a 1.3 GHz processor, 1 gigabytes of RAM and 16 GB of onboard storage which is expandable up to 32 GB using micro SD card. The screen on this phone is a 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD display and the phone comes with a fingerprint reader on the back which is a very welcomed feature in this price range. Oh, and it also supports dual-SIM cards.

The main highlights of the phone, however, are its cameras. It boasts dual cameras on the back, a combination of 13 + 2-megapixel shooters with autofocus and flash which is unprecedented in this price range. At the front, the phone has a 5 MP front shooter for your selfies. In total the phone has 3 cameras which is why CG is marketing it as the “three camera Phone”.

On the software side, OMEGA 6 comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB and 3G connectivity. And all of this is powered by a 2600 mAh battery.

Impressions

With all the specs laid out above, it is instantly clear that no phone in this price range comes close to the features offered by the OMEGA 6. The nearest competitors to this phone are Colors S11, Colors Pride P85, Coolpad NX1 and Infocus M370. None of these phones have dual cameras on the back. The Infocus M370 and the Coolpad NX1 don’t even have a fingerprint sensor. All of them except the Colors Pride P85 has 16 GB internal storage. But the Pride P85 falls short on battery department, OMEGA 6’s 2600 mAh vs P85’s 2500 mAh, and its single 8MP camera on the back cannot beat the 12+2 MP dual cameras on the OMEGA 6. Also, the Android 7.0 Nougat on OMEGA 6 is more recent than the Android 6.0 Marshmallow on the P85.

In conclusion, CG OMEGA 6 decimates the competition on paper. So, here comes the difficult question: Should you buy it? If you are very tight on your budget and cannot spend a rupee more than 10K then, yes, you should buy it over other options. But if you can be a little flexible with your money, there are better options in the price range 10K – 15K that offer at least 2 GB of RAM and possibly more storage and a larger battery that would better suit your needs.

If all you want to do is make phone calls, send some texts and watch a little YouTube, this phone might be for you but its 1 GB RAM would struggle to meet any of your other demands and the multitasking experience would be very painful.
