vivo V70 Launched in Nepal: ZEISS Cameras, New Design, and Little Trinkets

vivo’s V-series has long been the go-to for those wanting a flagship-grade camera without the flagship price tag. Now, the latest iteration in the series, the vivo V70, is official in Nepal.

Since it had only been about six months since the V60 brought major camera and performance upgrades, a huge overhaul was unlikely. But I won’t say no to a few surprises. Let’s see…

What is the Price of vivo V70 in Nepal?

Even before the recent market shift, the V-series had been steadily climbing in price. The V60 saw a Rs. 3,000 hike over its predecessor, which, to be fair, was justified by the upgrades. But the V50 before it also went up by Rs 2,000 despite offering little to no improvements — something we heavily criticised.

So, with that track record and the ongoing RAM shortage, we expected the vivo V70 to cross the Rs 90,000 mark. And voila!

The vivo V70 launched in Nepal on April 7, 2026, priced at Rs. 83,999 (12/256GB) and Rs. 94,999 (12/512GB). So yes, only the higher variant crosses the Rs 90,000 mark, with a steep Rs 19,000 jump. Meanwhile, the base model sees a relatively softer Rs 13,000 increase.

That said, let’s talk offers! Because vivo has quite a few. While there are no cash discounts, the first 2,000 customers get one-time screen breakage replacement and water damage protection, both valid for six months.

Additionally, 1,200 buyers will receive FREE vivo TWS earbuds. And four lucky customers can win an Elephant electric scooter worth Rs 2.16 lakhs, with winners to be announced in 15 days.

The vivo V70 is available at authorized stores across Nepal, both for full payment as well as via 0% EMI with a 12-month payback period.

Last year, the V60 was a massive step up from the V50. It finally added a telephoto lens, which is a must-have for any “camera-centric” phone, and delivered a significant performance boost. Even the design, while not necessarily groundbreaking, was polished enough to turn heads.

Just six months later, we already have the vivo V70. Usually, a half-year cycle isn’t enough time for meaningful upgrades, especially after such a big leap with the previous generation. I really hope vivo didn’t just re-release the same phone with nothing but a new Android version.

Is that the case? Let’s find in the detailed overview of the phone and see what has really changed!

vivo V70 Overview

vivo has completely pivoted with the V70, ditching the signature curves for a flat glass back and a sleek aluminum alloy frame. To be honest, with that new square camera module, it looks a lot like OPPO’s Find X series.

While previous V-series phones relied on curved displays to make their bezels seem narrower, the V70 doesn’t need the illusion. Even with a flat screen, it boasts incredibly thin 1.2mm bezels that give it a truly premium feel.

Despite being slimmer, the V70 hasn’t lost any durability. It’s rated IP68 and IP69 for dust, water, and water jets. It survives 1.8-meter drops, and the screen’s protected by Schott Xensation Core glass.

Now flip it over, and you’ll find a 6.59-inch screen, a bit smaller than the V60’s 6.77-inch display, but vivo has managed to cram in a 1.5K resolution. Since we only had FHD last time, the visuals are going to be much crisper, especially with the HBM brightness bumped up to 1,800 nits from 1,500. It is a 10-bit panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, like before.

Plus, it now features an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which is generally only reserved for flagship phones. And as far as I can remember, it’s the only phone in this segment to offer one.

Performance-wise, it still runs the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. It’s not a huge surprise, seeing how vivo stuck with the 7 Gen 3 for three generations, so this SoC will likely be with us until the V80 arrives. However, the memory is a massive upgrade.

Moving from the sluggish UFS 2.2, usually found on budget phones, to UFS 4.1 is huge. This results in faster read/write speeds, quicker game loads, and less delay when snapping photos. The phone is equipped with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB or 512GB internal storage.

Cameras are the V70’s main selling point, backed by the ZEISS partnership. The 50MP Sony LYT-700V main sensor with OIS is a real step up from the IMX766 — better low-light performance and clearer photos overall.

The 50MP telephoto (3x, Sony IMX882) is capable too. The 8MP ultra-wide? It feels like an afterthought. Fixed focus, limited versatility — it just doesn’t measure up.

But the front camera is good. You’re getting a 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor with a wide-angle lens and autofocus, which is rare at this level. Few selfie cameras have better hardware than that.

Besides, portrait mode gets serious attention with ZEISS Multifocal Portrait modes covering 23mm to 100mm, plus distinctive bokeh styles: Distagon, Biotar, Sonnar, and Planar. You can also shoot 4K video at 60 fps.

The battery is a little bit underwhelming, though. Not because the 6,500mAh Si/C unit or the 90W fast charging is bad, but because vivo has been adding 500mAh to the capacity every year since the V30. Staying at 6,500mAh instead of hitting 7,000mAh feels like a disappointment. But it’s not like 6,500mAh is anything to slouch at.

On the OS end, the phone boots on Android 16 with OriginOS 6 and comes with 4 years of OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches.

While the V70 is technically a camera-focused phone, it feels like vivo spent most of its energy on the hardware and display this year. The flat frame, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and sharper 1.5K panel are nice, but it means the camera didn’t get as much attention.

Given that the V60’s camera was already more than decent, the V70’s small tweaks make it feel very similar to its predecessor. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially considering it’s only been six months since the last generation.

That said, I’m actually curious about the main sensor upgrade. Going from the IMX766 to the LYT-700V is an improvement, and I want to see how it actually performs in real photos across different lighting.

Also, the competition is heating up nicely in the Nepali market. The vivo V-series used to be the go-to camera smartphone a few years back. But now, Xiaomi has been picking up the gear and performed super closely to the vivo V60 when we compared it with the Xiaomi 15T.

The OPPO Reno15 also arrived in Nepal recently, which is the true competition of the vivo V70 in the truest fashion. If you compare their specs sheet side by side, you will get a fuller picture. And as the price of vivo V70 in Nepal is a little higher than OPPO Reno15, I think OPPO might be winning here.
