Entry-level phones don’t exactly have the best reputation when it comes to value for money. So, the big question is, can the Honor Play10 break that cycle, or is it just another piece of e-waste waiting to happen?

A few years ago, Honor made waves in the mid-range market with the original Honor Play, a device that was widely praised for delivering excellent performance at an affordable price.

Now, with the same “Play” branding making a return, things look quite different. Instead of targeting the mid-range segment, Honor has repositioned the series at the entry-level tier with the new Honor Play10.

Let’s see what the Honor Play10 has to offer.

Honor Play10 Overview

Design and Display

Being an entry-level phone, companies often don’t put much emphasis on design, and that’s quite evident with the Honor Play10.

Latest Mobile Prices

The phone looks rather plain with its flat plastic frame and back, blending into the vast crowd of budget smartphones. The waterdrop-style selfie notch adds to its “budget” look, though Honor does make up for it slightly by offering an IP52 rating, which is a nice touch at this price point.

On the back, you’ll find a square camera module that at first glance looks like a dual setup, but in reality, it only houses a single camera, more on that later.

Turning to the front, the 6.74-inch LCD panel comes with an HD+ resolution, resulting in a modest pixel density of 260ppi, the same as what you get on the Redmi A5. The downside, however, is the refresh rate.

Unlike the Redmi A5, which offers a 120Hz panel, the Honor Play10 is limited to just 90Hz.

Hardware and Other

The Honor Play10 is powered by the fan-favorite MediaTek Helio G81 SoC, an octa-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 2GHz. Graphics duties are handled by the Mali-G57 MP1 GPU, which should be adequate for light tasks and casual gaming.

In terms of memory, the phone comes with 3GB of RAM paired with 64GB of storage. While this feels acceptable for the price, the limited RAM does reveal its shortcomings when multitasking or switching between apps.

This hardware limitation likely explains why Honor opted for Android 15 Go Edition instead of the standard Android build.

Storage capacity is on the lower side, but Honor softens the blow with a dedicated microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB of external storage, giving users some much-needed flexibility.

Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery, which should comfortably last a full day of use. However, charging is capped at 10W, meaning you’ll need some patience when topping it up.

Camera

Moving on to the cameras, the Honor Play10 keeps things simple with a single 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter for selfies. Both cameras are capable of recording videos at up to 1080p at 30fps, which is fairly standard for an entry-level device.

Honor Play10 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Honor Play10 price in Nepal is Rs. 10,999 (3/64GB). The phone is available for purchase at official and authorized stores all across Nepal.

On paper, there’s nothing particularly impressive about the Honor Play10. It’s not that the specs are outright terrible; it’s just that we’ve already seen another phone with nearly identical hardware at the exact same price, and it’s the Redmi A5.

It not only matches the Play10 in most areas but also edges ahead with a slightly better camera setup, a larger battery, and faster charging support.

With that in mind, the Honor Play10 feels like a tough recommendation in this crowded entry-level market.
