Samsung Galaxy M55 5G with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Launched in Nepal

Samsung Nepal launched yet another smartphone in the M series lineup for the Nepalese market, the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G.

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G falls in line with Samsung’s other mid-range offerings like the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G and the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G. The only difference is that the Galaxy M55 uses predominantly plastic materials, unlike metal or glass found on the A55.

Specs-wise, the device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a Super AMOLED Plus display, triple cameras, and a 5000mAh battery. For more details, read below.

Samsung Galaxy M55 5G Overview

Design

Design-wise, on the front, the smartphone comes with a hole-punch display for the selfie camera. The display has average-sized bezels, with a slightly larger chin compared to the rest.

The phone has plastic side rails with the power and volume buttons on the right side, while the hybrid SIM card tray can be found on the left.

On the rear, the smartphone has a plastic back that comes in a matte, frosted finish. The rear triple cameras come in their own separate housing similar to the Samsung Galaxy S24.

Finally, on the bottom, you can find the Type-C port and the main speaker grille. The Galaxy M55 is the first Galaxy M series Samsung phone to feature a stereo speaker setup. The earpiece acts as the secondary speaker.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G‘s display is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus panel that has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz.

The display comes with an always-on feature and has a high brightness mode (HBM) of 1000nits under direct sunlight. Samsung has also included an under-display fingerprint sensor in the smartphone for biometric authentication.

Hardware

Powering the Samsung Galaxy M55 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor found in other upper mid-range devices like the Honor 90 and the Xiaomi 13 Lite.

The processor has 1x 2.4 GHz Cortex-A710 high-performance core, 3x 2.36 GHz Cortex-A710 performance cores, and 4x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. The graphics are handled by an Adreno 644 GPU.

Memory-wise, the Galaxy M55 5G comes with either 8 or 12GB of RAM and either 128 or 256GB of non-removable storage. The smartphone also supports external storage expansion in the form of a microSD card.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G comes with a triple camera setup. The main camera is a 50MP lens that has OIS and PDAF. The macro camera is a 2MP lens whereas the ultrawide camera is an 8MP lens.

On the front, the selfie camera is also a 50MP lens. Both the main and selfie cameras can record videos up to 4K at 30fps.

Battery and OS

Powering the M55 smartphone is a 5000mAh battery that charges through a USB-C port. With an appropriate charger, the battery can charge at a rate of up to 45W of power.

Out of the box, the Galaxy M55 5G comes with Samsung’s own One UI 6.1 skin applied on top of Android 14. Samsung promises four generations of OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
