Tecno Pova 6 with Helio G99 Ultimate Launched in Nepal

Tecno Mobiles, the China-based mobile phone manufacturer, recently announced a new smartphone in its Pova lineup, the Tecno Pova 6. The smartphone has now arrived in the Nepalese market.

Featuring a stylish and eye-catching design, the Tecno Pova 6 comes with a mixed set of specs. For example, it has an excellent AMOLED screen and a huge 6000mAh battery but only one camera and no microSD expansion.

Being marketed as a gaming phone, the Tecno Pova 6 comes loaded with a MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate processor which may be on par with its predecessor, the Tecno Pova 5, which has a Helio G99 processor. For a detailed list of specs, read along.

Tecno Pova 6 Overview

Design

The Tecno Pova 6 has a body made out of mainly plastic materials. On the front, the device features a generic punch-hole display with symmetrical bezels surrounding it.

The power and the volume buttons are on one side of the device whereas the SIM card slot rests on the other. You can find the USB-C charging port, the main speaker grille, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom.

Tecno seems to have taken inspiration from Nothing’s design elements and added their own twist to it. There are LED strips on the rear that light up while playing games and while receiving phone calls or notifications.

The rear features Tecno’s “Dynamic-Tech Design” which is heavily inspired by Nothing’s instantly recognizable chipboard-like design. The device has an IP53 splash and dust-resistant certification.

Display

The Pova 6 smartphone has an impressive 6.78-inch AMOLED display. It is an FHD+ panel that has a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels.

The display can reach a peak brightness of 1300nits and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Tecno has also included a fingerprint sensor under the display that acts as a biometric authenticator for the device.

Making an appearance is Tecno’s “Dynamic port” feature that shows important notifications, power status, and other small information by expanding the area around the front camera through software.

Hardware

The Tecno Pova 6 comes equipped with a MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate processor. The chip consists of 2x 2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 and 6x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores making it an octa-core processor. The graphics are handled by a Mali-G57 MC2 coprocessor.

Memory-wise, the phone comes with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. Sadly, the phone does not support external memory expansion.

Being a gaming-oriented phone, Tecno has included a stacked 10-layer cooling system interface, which, as per Tecno’s claims, “effectively reduces heat during intense battles in games.” On the multimedia side, the phone comes with a dual-speaker setup for stereo sound.

Camera

The camera of the Tecno Pova 6 is a decent 108MP shooter that supports night photography and includes some scene filters. It can record videos up to 1440p at 30fps. The other ‘camera’ is actually a light sensor that is designed to look like a secondary camera. This means that the device misses out on a telephoto or an ultrawide camera.

The selfie cam is a 32MP lens that can record in 1440p at 30fps as well. The phone is capable of taking videos simultaneously.

Battery and OS

Powering the device is a 6000mAh battery that supports a whopping 70W fast charging through the available USB-C port. Tecno claims the phone can charge up to 50% in 20 minutes and fully charge in 50 minutes. The phone can also reverse-charge other devices at up to 10W of power.

Out of the box, the phone comes with Android 14 with Tecno’s HIOS 14 skin applied on top.

The Tecno Pova 6 price in Nepal Rs. 34,999 (12/256GB). The device is available for purchase online and at physical retailers.

The Tecno Pova 6 comes with a stylish design and features that cater more to gamers. It features a good AMOLED display and a decent Helio G99 Ultimate processor. Battery capacity is also good, coming in at a respectable 6000mAh, which supports 70W fast charging. The only downside of this device is the single camera and no support for external memory.
