Tecno has been selling phones in Nepal for a while now. The phones range from the budget category to mid mid-rangers category. The Pova series has been Tecno’s lower mid-range phones and the Pova 5 is the successor to the Pova 4.

Tecno Pova 5 Overview

Design

The Tecno Pova 5 is a hefty phone at 219 gm and 9mm thickness. The overall design of the phone is very gamer-centric. The 3D look and patterns resemble a mecha suit.

It features a stereo speaker setup for audio playback and the phone has a large vapor chamber cooling with a Graphene heat sink making it 2x better in cooling performance compared to the last generation, or so Tecno claims.

Display

The large 6.78-inch IPS LCD has a hole punch camera in the center and relatively thin bezels to give the phone an immersive look.

The chin is a bit prominent, however. The display resolution is FHD+ and the screen refreshes at 120Hz. As the phone is targeted towards the gaming audience, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz is featured in the phone.

Hardware

The Pova 5 is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 (6nm) processor. It is an octa-core processor (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) and the graphics are handled by Mali-G52 MC2.

The phone is available with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Furthermore, the RAM can be extended to 16GB with RAM extension.

Camera

The Pova 5 features a dual setup on paper. The primary camera is a 50MP sensor with a depth sensor. Unfortunately, there’s no ultrawide camera. The videos from the phone can be shot at 1440p@30fps.

The front has an 8MP camera which is capable of shooting up to 1080p@30fps videos. Oh yeah, the phone features a front flash as well for night selfies.

Battery and OS

The phone has a massive 6000mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging and Tecno claims you can fully charge the phone in an hour.

The smartphone runs on Android 13, out of the box, with HIOS 13 running on top.
