Vivo X200 Pro Overview

Camera

The Vivo X200 Pro feature that garnered the most attention is definitely its camera, contending the likes of iPhone and Samsung. After all, the camera hardware on this phone is absolutely top-notch.

Out of the three snappers, the telephoto lens definitely stands out the most. It is a large 200MP unit with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and floating periscope system. It also benefits from ZEISS APO colour correction, even at high zoom levels. The telephoto lens also doubles down as a macro snapper.

Meanwhile, the main camera on the Vivo X200 Pro is a 50MP unit. This may sound underwhelming compared to the telephoto lens, but it isn’t a sleeper in any way. Vivo partnered with Sony to develop the 1/1.28-inch LYT-818 sensor using a 22nm process, which lies underneath the primary shooter.

The rear optics setup is completed by a 50MP ultrawide camera with a 1/2.76″ sensor and 119˚ field of view.

All these cameras come with ZEISS T* coating helping in flare and reflection reduction. On top of all that, Vivo X200 Pro also packs a dedicated V3+ imaging chip. It is basically an independent ISP with 6nm fabrication that helps enhance computational imaging.

The phone is capable of cinematic portrait videography and recording 10-bit Log footage. It has a 32MP selfie camera and comes with AI photo enhancement and an AI eraser too.

Design and Build

The Vivo X200 Pro has an eye-catching design complete with a large central camera bump housing the powerful optics department. The camera ring has a gritty texture which evokes the look of a professional camera.

Even with its design language, this phone is all about cameras!

Other than that, while all other phone brands are slowly ditching the curves for boxy design, the Vivo X200 Pro isn’t ready the give up on it just yet. The frames here are flat for sure, but the back panel is curved. Likewise, the screen is also ever so slightly curved near the edges.

The Vivo X200 Pro boasts both IP68 as well as IP69 ratings and ships in Titanium Grey, Carbon Black, and Cobalt Blue colours. Only the former two options will be available in Nepal. And… the Titanium Grey option does not actually contain titanium or anything, it’s just the name of the colour.

Display

Display-wise, you are looking at a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 2Kresolution (2,800 x 1,260 pixels) and maintaining 452PPI pixel density. It is an 8T LTPO panel that can go up to 120Hz and all the way down to just 0.1Hz. Not 1, it’s 0.1 indeed.

Additionally, you get a colour depth of 1.07 billion and P3-wide colour gamut coverage with the Vivo X200 Pro. It also offers 2,160Hz PWM dimming and a peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits.

Meanwhile, the phone has an Armor Glass on top, which is apparently 11 times drop resistant compared to the glass featured on the Vivo X100 Pro. However, it is unclear how it stacks up against popular Corning offerings.

Hardware

For computing firepower Vivo X200 Pro relies on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset. While MediaTek had been consistently outdoing Qualcomm in terms of processing power with their flagship chipset for quite some time, the paradigm has now shifted.

Though the Snapdragon 8 Elite is definitely a more powerful processor between the two, the Dimensity 9400 still holds more than enough power for an average Joe.

Talking of the variants, the Chinese market saw four — 12/256GB, 16/512GB, 16GB/1TB, and yet another 16GB/1TB, but with satellite communication support. The Nepali audience will likely only get the 16/512GB trim, 12/256GB too if we are lucky.

The thing packs a silicon-anode battery with a massive 6,000mAh capacity. Vivo claims the X200 Pro offers 18 hours and 9.1 hours of continuous video playback and gaming time respectively. The charging speed also matches the device’s vibe, offering 90W wired and 30W wireless support.

Lastly, the Vivo X200 Pro comes with an independent security chip — similar to Knox Vault. Samsung set this trend, which we are happy to see other phone companies adopt.

OS and AI

In terms of software, the Vivo X200 Pro boots on the Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15. Every phone these days has to have AI features baked into it, of course., and this phone is no exception.

We get AI Note Assist, Transcript Assist, Live Call Translation, and the beloved Circle to Search on this phone.
