Umidigi G5A with Helio A22 Launched in Nepal

Umidigi announced the entry-level smartphone Umidigi G5A in Nepal on December 18, 2023. Globally, the smartphone was released back in August of 2023.

The smartphone runs on a MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core processor and houses 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage capacity. It has a 6.52″ HD+ display, a 5000mAh battery, and a fingerprint sensor.

Design

The Umidigi G5A shares its overall looks with the Umidigi G5 launched in Nepal in November 2023.

Umidigi goes with the waterdrop notch on the front screen with a power button on the side that doubles as a fingerprint sensor.

Here the company has disguised the flash module to look like a third camera lens. Many phones in this price range seem to be going with the triangular triple camera setup these days. This phone is no exception.

In addition, a separate section of cameras with a radial effect adds a beautiful touch to the design.

The 5 color options of the back are carried along smoothly with the same colored side frame of the phone as well.

The phone has a 6.52-inch HD+ screen with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The screen aspect ratio of 20:9 is packed with a 269 PPI pixel density.

Since the company has not disclosed further information, we assume the phone comes with an LCD panel and a screen refresh rate capped at 60Hz.

Hardware

Umidigi G5A is powered by the MediaTek Helio A22, which is built on a 12nm process technology. The quad-core processor consists of four ARM Cortex-A53, all clocked at up to 2.0GHz.

The processor is paired with 4GB RAM. Meanwhile, the 64GB internal storage can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card.

Camera

The Umidigi G5A has a dual camera on the back. The main camera is a 13MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture lens. While the second camera is marketed as a 2MP depth sensor camera with an aperture of f/2.4.

The front camera, on the other hand, has a 5MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture lens.

The back camera can shoot 1080p resolution videos at 30fps, but the front can only shoot at 720p.

The company mentions features such as night mode, portrait mode, and pro mode with aperture, shutter speed, and ISO control.

Battery and OS

In the power department, this phone carries a 5,000mAh battery that can be charged with a USB Type-C 10W charger.

The phone is loaded with the Android 13 operating system which was released in the year 2022.
