A study commissioned by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City shows that sky train service is feasible in three routes in Kathmandu.
Cimex Inc, that conducted the study, gave the three routes as Tilganga-Kalanki, Maharajgunj-Godavari and Ring Road. It also gave an estimate of Rs. 300 million for every 10km track for the sky train with a two year time estimate. Though Prasiddha Bahadur Pandey, the President of Cinemax, said that the total cost can be calculated only after the detailed project report.
These trains will be 20% cheaper than metro trains but each line can only support three coaches and each coach can carry 200 people.
Regarding this, KMC Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya had decided to discuss the report with the heads of Kathmandu’s neighboring cities
