Samsung SmartTag Launched in Nepal: A Smart Tracker For Galaxy Devices!

Along with the new S21 series, Samsung Nepal has launched Samsung SmartTag in Nepal. Samsung had announced the SmartTag during their unpacked event held on January 14, 2021.

Samsung SmartTag is a Bluetooth tracking device and it is Samsung’s version of the AirTag that was recently launched by Apple.

Design

Samsung SmartTag is a pebble-sized smart tracker. It measures 1.54 x 1.54 x 0.39 inches (LxWxD) and weighs 13 gram. It comes with IP53 water and dust resistance.

It comes in two colors: Black and Oatmeal. There’s a small cutout on one of the edges to attach a lanyard or key ring. With this, you can attach the SmartTag to anything. It has a small user-replaceable coin-sized battery that can last for months according to Samsung.

How Does it Work?

Samsung SmartTag helps you locate missing items when you attach them to whatever you see fit. You can clip them up to your keys, wallet, backpack, or even to your pet’s leash.

They pair with Samsung’s SmartThings app and you can then check out the tag’s last location, and play a sound to help you locate it in tight spaces. The trackers have a range of 120m.

The new SmartTag will also take advantage of the Galaxy SmartThing Find. This is a feature that has been built into Samsung’s SmartThing app. This can also be used as a stand-alone web application. This was introduced back in October 2020.

It allows users to locate their Galaxy devices including smartphones and earbuds by using Bluetooth signals. This is especially helpful when the tagged item is out of range. Even when offline, the Galaxy Find Network can use scanned data to locate the item by providing the last location.

The smart tracker also serves as a one-touch IoT control meaning it can switch on or off connected Samsun appliances like TVs, robot vacuums, and other appliances.

Samsung SmartTags are only compatible with Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and wearables.
