iPhone 18 Pro Series Launching in Nepal in 2 Days With Apple’s First 2nm Chip

Apple’s back at it again. The company unveiled its new generation of iPhones in early September, with official global sales kicking off later that month. However, things remained unusually quiet for Nepal.

That is, until now. We finally have confirmation that the iPhone 18 Pro series is coming to Nepal, with the launch set for October. But that’s not all. We also have the Nepal pricing. So, let’s see how much the new iPhones will cost here.

Sure, the spotlight has shifted from the Pro series to the new iPhone Duo. But let me tell you something: the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are still the most powerful iPhones that cater to the general population.

What’s more interesting is that there’s no standard iPhone 18 model as of yet, which is a bit of a bummer, especially for buyers who want the latest iPhone without spending a ton. That brings me to my next question.

What is the Price of iPhone 18 Pro Series in Nepal?

Both the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max got a $100 price bump this year, now starting at $1,199 and $1,299, respectively.

And just like in India, where iPhones typically launch at a significantly higher price than their US prices, Nepal has received the same treatment, as expected.

The iPhone 18 Pro price in Nepal starts at Rs. 2,59,900 (256GB), Rs. 3,01,900 (512GB), Rs. 3,86,900 (1TB), and Rs. 5,13,900 (2TB). On the other hand, the iPhone 18 Pro Max costs Rs. 2,79,900 (256GB), Rs. 3,22,900 (512GB), Rs. 4,07,900 (1TB), and Rs. 5,34,900 (2TB).

The phones have already gone on sale in international markets, but they have yet to officially launch in Nepal. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer, as the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are set to make their official debut here this Thursday. Apple has also opened a “Register Your Interest” form ahead of launch, though it’s worth noting this isn’t the same as pre-booking.

“Register Your Interest” and pre-booking aren’t the same thing. The former is just a way to get notified once sales open, with no payment or guaranteed unit reserved.

The iPhone 17 Pro series brought forth a design that’s been copied over and over again. They made the camera plateau design a lot more common; even brands like Honor heavily took inspiration from it for their 600 Pro.

iPhone 18 Pro Series Overview

Once Apple settles on a new iPhone design, they tend to stick with it for a couple of generations. Just look at the triple camera module introduced back with the iPhone 11 Pro Max, it stuck around all the way till the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

So it’s no surprise that both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max feature the same rectangular camera plateau design from last year. Apple has basically built the iPhone 18 Pro series on the same frame as the iPhone 17 Pro series, so even the button configuration remains identical.

The only real difference is in the color options. The iPhone 18 Pro comes in three new color variants: Black, Glacier, and Burgundy. There’s also a Silver variant, though it looks nearly identical to last year’s iPhone 17 Pro Silver.

The Dynamic Island has also gotten slightly smaller this year, while somehow becoming more useful at the same time. It can now show three Live Activities at once, up from the two it could handle before.

Speaking of tampering with things, Apple seems to be trying out something genuinely new with the camera this time. The phone now lets you manually adjust settings on the 48MP main camera itself, specifically, the variable aperture.

For readers unfamiliar with the term, aperture essentially controls how much light your camera lets in and how much of the scene stays in focus. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max let you set the aperture to ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8, or ƒ/4.0 depending on the condition, meaning you get better background blur (bokeh) at wider apertures and sharper. You can use wider apertures for more light and stronger background blur, or narrower apertures for greater depth of field.

Low-light photography has always been one of the hardest things to nail on a smartphone camera, and the iPhone 18 Pro series looks to tackle that.

Besides that, there’s the 48MP ultrawide camera for those wide scenic shots, along with a 48MP telephoto lens that still zooms optically up to 4x.

The selfie camera remains the same: an 18MP Center Stage camera, nothing new here.

On the video front, the main camera can still record up to 4K footage at 120fps, same as last time. But with the 18 Pro series, users can now shoot 4K video with Dolby Vision HDR even in Time-lapse mode, and Cinematic mode can now be shot at 60fps instead of being capped at 30fps.

That’s not all, though: Cinematic mode can also be applied after you’ve already taken the video, similar to how you can add background blur after the fact; no need to have Cinematic mode turned on while filming to get that effect.

All this is also likely made possible thanks to the new A20 Pro, a powerhouse built for Pro-level performance and AI, at least according to Apple.

It’s Apple’s first 2nm chip. Like the A19 Pro, it features a 6-core CPU, consisting of two super cores and four efficiency cores. The two new “super cores” are borrowed from Apple’s latest M-series chips. And this time, the GPU also gets an extra core, jumping from 6 to 7. 🤷

Specs aside, Apple says the new 7-core GPU is up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro and that the redesigned thermal system can deliver up to 40% better sustained performance.

As for the memory options, last year, Nepal did not get the 2TB variant of the iPhone 17 Pro, as that option was reserved for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This time, however, both the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max feature 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage options.

As for the display, there’s absolutely nothing new here. It looks like Apple just carried over last year’s panel, much like the design itself. And honestly, that’s not a bad thing; the display was already good, so there wasn’t much need to tamper with it.

The iPhone 18 Pro features a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max runs a 6.9-inch panel. Both are LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED displays with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz.

Brightness reaches 1,600 nits in HDR mode and up to 3,000 nits outdoors. That’s a significant jump over the previous generation’s outdoor brightness.

Display durability also stays the same: Ceramic Shield glass on the front paired with an anti-reflective coating.

Moving to endurance, it’s always a bit confusing with Apple, since they never officially disclose the exact mAh figure.

But Apple claims the iPhone 18 Pro can last up to 24 hours on typical use, 36 hours with video playback, and 33 hours with streamed video playback, while the Pro Max lasts up to 30 hours on typical use, 45 hours with video playback, and 40 hours with streamed video playback.

Comparing that to the previous generation, the new iPhone 18 Pro Max apparently offers about 6 hours more video playback than the 17 Pro Max. It’s not the most dramatic jump, but hey, at least charging is faster this time.

Both the Pro and Pro Max support 60W wired charging, capable of reaching 50% in around 15 minutes. Wireless and reverse wireless charging, however, remain unchanged, still capped at 25W and 4.5W, respectively.

iOS 27 and Siri AI

Alongside the hardware, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max ship with iOS 27 right out of the box, and this year, the bigger story is arguably on the software side.

Apple has introduced Siri AI, an entirely reworked version of Siri built on Apple Intelligence. It’s meant to feel far more personal, capable, and conversational than anything Siri has offered before.

What I find more interesting is that Siri can now draw on personal context to help you find things across your messages, emails, and photos. It also uses on-screen awareness to actually act on whatever is currently on your screen. That does raise some privacy concerns, though.

There’s even a new Siri mode built into the Camera app, letting you point your phone at something and get information or take action on it directly. You can also simply describe what you need, and Siri will write it out for you.

It’s worth noting, though, that these new Siri AI features are only rolling out as a beta with iOS 27. So while the ambition here is clearly bigger than what we’ve seen from Apple in years, it might take a few months before the experience feels fully baked for everyone.

Hopefully, the beta phase won’t take too long to turn into a polished experience like the Apple Intelligence rollout we saw with the iPhone 15 Pro series.

Both the iPhone 18 Pro and the 18 Pro Max feel like a step in the right direction. And that’s not surprising. With each generation, Apple has consistently focused its efforts on camera hardware. Last year, we got the Center Stage camera. This time, it’s the variable aperture main camera, which is a massive addition considering it directly tackles one thing mobile cameras usually struggle with: low-light photography.

What I find genuinely interesting here is that Apple isn’t just throwing more megapixels at the problem. Giving users actual control over aperture is a very “pro” way to solve this. It treats the camera less like a point-and-shoot and more like a proper tool, which fits the “Pro” branding a lot better than past incremental updates have.

Plus, we also got upgraded 60W wired charging, up from the previous 40W. Finally closing some of the gap with Android flagships that have offered faster charging for years now.

So while the design may have stayed the same, Apple has definitely made the new Pro series a touch better this time around.
