The First-ever “FE” Version of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Arrives in Nepal

The sole 40mm variant of the latest Samsung Galaxy Watch FE is now available for purchase in Nepal.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch FE is the first-ever smartwatch entry in the company’s “Fan Edition” lineup. The Samsung FE products target customers who seek premium flagship-like features at an affordable price. As a result, they tend to be watered-down versions of the company’s top-of-the-line offering.

That being said the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE, instead of being the Galaxy Watch 7 with some caveats — is a tweaked version of the Galaxy Watch 4. The latter is the company’s flagship offering from three years back i.e. 2021. The new Samsung smartwatch is practically the same as the older flagship, except it has an updated screen cover and boots on a newer OS.

Samsung Galaxy Watch FE Overview

Design and Display

As I mentioned earlier, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE is pretty much the same as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. They even look the same with buttons and sensors in the same place. The only physical difference between the two watches is the cover material.

While the older offering had the Corning Gorilla Glass DX+, the Watch FE dons a Sapphire Crystal covering. The latter is a more premium choice with better scratch resistance. However, it has a higher chance of shattering so we suggest you still be careful with it.

Underneath the Sapphire Crystal sits the watch’s 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display. It has a resolution of 396 x 196 pixels and a colour depth of 16 million.

The body of the watch is made of aluminium and is rated 5ATM and IP68 dust and water-resistant. Additionally, it is MIL-STD-810H military standard compliant as well.

Hardware

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE has an in-house Exynos W920 processor. It is the same silicon that powered the company’s 2021 offering. It has two cores, comes with 5nm fabbing, and a maximum clock speed of 1.18GHz.

Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE comes with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Meanwhile, only 7.6 gigs of the total storage can be utilized.

In the tank, there is a 247mAh battery which can apparently last up to 40 hours with AOD turned off.

Software and Connectivity

As for software, this smartwatch runs on Google’s WearOS with Samsung One UI Watch skin on top. Given that, it offers you access to Samsung Health and taps into Galaxy AI as well. The watch also allows you to customize it in a multitude of ways.

For wireless connectivity, it comes with Bluetooth v5.3, dual-band WiFi, and NFC. The Samsung Galaxy Watch FE is available in an LTE version in the international market. However, the Nepali audience will have to make do with the standard option.

Health and Features

Like any other smartwatch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE offers a suite of health and fitness tracking. First, you get over 100 workout modes ranging from yoga to swimming. You can even customise your workout movements. It also detects and tracks several different activities automatically.

Additionally, users can find out about their body condition, sleep details, and vitals. The Samsung Galaxy Watch FE constantly monitors the user’s heart rate and informs of any abnormality. It is capable of ECG examination as well which helps you figure out any risk that may arise.
