Samsung Galaxy S25 Overview

Galaxy AI

Samsung hasn’t made all that many changes in the hardware department this year. As such, the key highlight this year is AI and how personal and intuitive it has grown. It now better understands on-device context and human language, allowing you to find the setting or a photo by defining it instead.

Samsung and Google have teamed up to enable Bixby and Gemini to work together, even handling tasks across third-party apps. The on-device AI also curates relevant information in the “Now Brief” section, which can be accessed via the Dynamic Island-like “Now Bar.”

Circle to Search now recognises audio playing on the device and detects phone numbers, emails, and URLs for instant actions. Other AI tools include Call Transcript and Summarisation, Writing Assist, and Drawing Assist (formerly Sketch to Image).

Design and Build

Similar to the Plus model, the Samsung Galaxy S25 looks practically the same as the previous year. The only real difference is the more prominent rings around the cameras.

Apart from that, the overall design remains the same with three independent camera cutouts vertically aligned on top of one another. The phone has grown smaller and lighter, while the material used remains the same.

As such, its frame is made of Armor Aluminium 2 and the front and back panels are layered with Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It is still water and dust-resistant with an IP68 rating.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy S25 has a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with FHD+ resolution, 1 to 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,600 nits peak brightness. In other words, it’s the same screen as last year. This phone does not even get the AI upscaling “ProScaler” feature the Plus and Ultra models get.

Hardware

This time, Samsung has decided to go all in with the “Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy” for everyone. So, no more good stuff to a limited audience and discrimination to the rest.

This silicon brings one of the highest performance jumps compared to its predecessor in recent history. We are looking at over 30% improvement in almost all the aspects.

Now the Samsung Galaxy S25 ships with a minimum of 12GB RAM, while you can choose between 128GB and 256GB for the storage option.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S25 shares the same optics hardware as its predecessor and Plus-sized sibling. It has a 50MP main, a 10MP (3x) telephoto, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 12MP selfie camera.

The phone does get some feature upgrades, which include the ability to record 10-bit HDR and Log videos, with Zebra Pattern and False Colour tools built right in.

You also get features like “Best Face” and “Audio Eraser” to fix imperfections. The former lets you swap faces in photos to correct issues like blinking eyes, while the latter reduces background noise in videos.

Battery and OS

The story with battery and charging speed is the same too — they are unchanged. The Samsung Galaxy S25 features a 4,000mAh cell, 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. Despite the unchanged hardware, Samsung claims the optimisations they’ve put in place improve the battery life.

The Galaxy S25 runs on Android 15 with OneUI 7 and offers seven years of security updates and OS upgrades.
