Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Overview
Design
Samsung once again decided to overhaul the design of its flagship Galaxy Buds and made it look completely different from its predecessor. The Buds 3 now more closely resembles Apple’s AirPods 3, but still different enough to be recognized as a Samsung product with added design elements. The earbuds are rated for IP57 dust and water resistance.
The charging case has been redesigned with a two-tone finish: a transparent lid paired with a solid silver or white bottom. The Samsung logo is displayed on the top of the lid, while the front features a handy charging LED so you can easily see how much power is left. Down on the bottom, you’ve got the USB-C charging port and the Bluetooth pairing button.
Opening the case, you’re greeted with the earbuds themselves. The earbuds look similar to the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro minus the ear tips and the LED strips. They have an oval body with a triangular stem, which Samsung calls ‘blades’, attached at the end.

Features
In terms of features, the most important and significant is the inclusion of AI tools like Interpreter and Live Translate when paired with a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet. The AI feature also plays a significant role in enhancing your music and phone call listening experience by managing the ANC and ENC.
Besides that, the Galaxy Buds 3 comes packed with all the usual TWS features you’d expect, like, controlling your music, using voice assistants, handling phone calls, and managing noise cancellation. If you wish to go hands-free, the earbuds support voice commands for controlling music playback.
On top of all that, they also come with some extra features like Auto Switch, which lets you smoothly switch between two connected devices without missing a beat, and Auracast allows you to connect multiple pairs of buds to a TV or smartphone for shared audio streaming.
Sound
Now, the most important. How do the earbuds sound? Samsung put in an 11mm dynamic driver to produce the audio in the Galaxy Buds 3. The boosted driver, according to Samsung, provides a richer and clearer sound compared to drivers that have the same circumference.
For an even better listening experience, these earbuds come with active noise cancellation (ANC). But how effective they are in an open-ended earbud like the Galaxy Buds 3 remains to be seen.
They support Hi-Res audio via Samsung’s new SSC UHQ codec.
You also get a transparency mode to stay aware of your environment and a customizable equalizer to tweak the sound to your liking. All these features are easy to manage through your smartphone.
Battery and Connectivity
The Galaxy Buds 3 comes with a 515mAh battery in its case and a 48mAh battery in each earbud. It can charge via a USB-C cable as well as wirelessly.
When it comes to playback, Samsung is saying that the Galaxy Buds 3 can last up to 5 hours of non-stop music if you’ve got the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) feature turned on. With the charging case, you’re looking at a total of 24 hours of music playback.
However, if you switch off ANC, you can enjoy up to 6 hours of continuous playback, and with the case, up to 30 hours of combined playback.
To connect to your smartphone or playback device, the earbuds use Bluetooth 5.4.
