Samsung Galaxy A16 5G Overview

Design

The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G comes in a similar design form as its predecessor. It has a plastic body and plastic side rails and it weighs only 200 grams. At the back, there are four cutouts, three for the cameras and one for the flash module.

The side rails are flat and give the phone a more compact and boxy look. Besides that, the phone is also ingress-protected and has IP54 water and dust resistance.

Display

On the front, the teardrop-shaped 6.7-inch display has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz.

Being a Super AMOLED panel, the display has a high contrast ratio compared to traditional LCD panels and a more vivid color profile. It can also reach a respectable 800nits of brightness in HBM mode.

Hardware

In terms of hardware, the Galaxy A16 5G comes with a 6nm Dimensity 6300 processor that has 2x Cortex-A76 cores that run at a max frequency of 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores that can clock up to 2.0GHz. Supporting the processor is a Mail-G57 MC2 coprocessor.

The phone has an ample 6 or 8GB of RAM and comes with storage sizes of 128 or 256GB. If you want to expand the storage, there’s a microSD card slot as well.

Cameras

Moving onto the cameras, the Galaxy A16 comes with triple cameras, a 50MP primary camera, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. There is also a 13MP selfie camera on the front for taking pictures and video calls.

Both the rear and front cameras are capable of recording videos up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Battery and OS

The Galaxy A16 preserves the same impressive battery capacity from last year of 5,000mAh. It is also capable of fast charging at up to 25W. The charging brick does not come in the box, but Samsung Nepal provides it for free separately.

Similarly, in the software department, you’ll get One UI 6.1 running on top of Android 14. Samsung promises 6 years of OS and security updates with the Galaxy A16 5G.

One neat feature of Galaxy A16 5G is the support for Samsung Knox Vault—a security feature that physically isolates PINS, passwords, and private information for safekeeping.
