Realme GT 8 Pro Launches in Nepal: The Most Fun Flagship of 2026?

Nepal has had a complicated history with the GT lineup. We got the GT 2 Pro, the GT Neo 3, then years of radio silence, before the GT 6T quietly showed up. And now, the GT series is back with a vengeance with the Realme GT 8 Pro.

And the timing could not be better. In 2026, where almost every top-tier flagship comfortably sits north of Rs. 1,50,000, the Realme GT 8 Pro walks in right at that mark, and with flagship-level specs in tow. So the question is, does it actually deliver? Let’s find out.

What is the Price of Realme GT 8 Pro in Nepal?

The Realme GT 8 Pro price in Nepal starts at Rs. 1,49,999 for the Diary White variant and Rs. 1,59,999 for the Racing Green variant. Both variants come with 16GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.

The Racing Green variant comes in collaboration with the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team, and with it, you get some exclusive goodies, including special Aston Martin-branded accessories, a collector’s box, and exclusive themed UI elements to complete that racing-inspired experience.

Customers can also choose 0% EMI option with a payback period of up to 12 months with a 40% down payment.

When it comes to Realme smartphones, they have always struggled to offer a genuinely compelling mid-tier or premium phone. There have been exceptions in the budget space, like the Realme C71, but their higher-end lineup has mostly been underwhelming at best.

However, their latest flagship, the GT 8 Pro, looks like a breath of fresh air. Not only is it a more accessible flagship, it also comes with a world-first swappable camera housing, letting you change how the phone looks on the fly.

So can Realme finally deliver a flagship worth recommending? I genuinely hope so.

Realme GT 8 Pro Overview

Right off the bat, the GT 8 Pro immediately reminded me of the OnePlus 13 design, that circular camera module sitting slightly to the left. It is a touch asymmetrical for my taste, but not a deal breaker.

What sets it apart, though, is that Realme is trying to make tech fun again with the removable camera housing. All it takes is removing two screws, and you can expose what Realme calls the “Robot” design — the bare camera setup underneath. It is quite an eye-catcher, and personally, I am a fan.

You can also swap in a square camera housing. Sadly, it is not available to purchase separately in Nepal. However, if you go for the Aston Martin Racing Green variant, it comes with the circular housing pre-installed and a square camera cap included in the box as well. So with the Racing Green variant, you essentially get three different looks — Circle, Square, and Robot.

The Diary White variant, on the other hand, does not come with any extra camera cap. So you are limited to just the Circle and Robot designs.

The phone comes in two different back materials and colors. The Diary White variant features a fiberglass back, the same material found on the OnePlus 15, while the special Racing Green variant comes with a silicone polymer back.

The display is also right up there at the flagship level, a 6.79-inch AMOLED panel that can reach up to 2K resolution, the same as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. But unlike the S26 Ultra, it is not an LTPO display.

But at least it wins in the brightness department, peaking at 7,000 nits, what Realme calls a HyperGlow Display. Now, peak brightness is not the most accurate indicator of a display’s everyday performance, but the typical 1,000 nits and 2,000 nits HBM are what really matter, and both are more than enough for indoor and sunny outdoor usage.

Moving to performance, like most 2026 flagships, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and S26 Ultra included, the GT 8 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It is paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, which means in terms of raw memory specs, the GT 8 Pro actually matches or beats most of its flagship rivals.

But what is more impressive is the camera. At first glance, the 50MP main, 200MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and 50MP ultrawide setup might not seem out of the ordinary; it is the same configuration found on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Vivo X300 Pro. But this is a massive upgrade over the GT 7 Pro, which sadly never made it to Nepal.

And more importantly, the GT 8 Pro marks Realme’s first official partnership with RICOH IMAGING, debuting the RICOH GR-powered camera on a smartphone. Vivo has Zeiss, Xiaomi has Leica, and now Realme has RICOH. The brand has officially entered the big leagues.

As for the selfie camera, it is a mere 32MP shooter, decent enough, but nothing to brag about at this price point.

The 7,000mAh battery is one of the highest capacity units on any flagship right now, coming in just 100mAh short of the Honor Magic 8 Pro. But where the GT 8 Pro truly leaves every other flagship in the dust is the 120W charging, and the charger comes included in the box. Realme claims it can go from 0 to 100% in just 43 minutes. It also supports 50W wireless charging for added convenience.

Lastly, the phone boots on Android 16 wrapped in Realme UI 7, offering 4 years of OS upgrades and 5 years of security patches, which, compared to Samsung and Vivo’s 7-year promise, is noticeably shorter and is something worth keeping in mind for long-term buyers.

The Realme GT 8 Pro brings something none of its rivals do. The swappable camera housing, the RICOH partnership, and 120W charging that comes in the box make it feel genuinely fresh in a segment that has started to feel a little predictable. It is the kind of phone that makes you go “hmmm”, and in 2026, that counts for something.

So where does it sit? Right in the sweet spot for buyers who want a true flagship experience without committing to the Rs. 2,00,000+ club.
