Realme is a new smartphone brand in India. Well, it’s more like a sub-brand of Oppo. Considering its phones come with Oppo branded charger. This seems like a thing now. All the prominent Chinese manufacturers, Huawei, Xiaomi, and Oppo now have a sub-brand: Honor, Poco, and RealMe. Realme was established just on May 4, 2018. It’s weird how this name sounds so much like Redmi.
Realme launched its first product, Realme 1, in India in May 2018. The Indian market was the first step for Realme. As Realme is targeting the global market, it will expand its reach geographically, with potential target markets including Southeast Asia, which means Nepal. Until now, Realme has launched four phones, Realme 1, Realme2, Realme C1, and the Realme 2 Pro. The Realme 2 Pro is the latest one to hit the market, and there has been talk that this phone might come to Nepal.
The Realme 2 Pro smartphone is priced in India at Rs. 13,990 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model, Rs.15,990 for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, and Rs. 17,990 for the 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage option. It will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart on October 11 from 12am IST, and will be available in Black Sea, Blue Ocean, and Ice Lake color options in India.
Realme 2 pro runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS OS 5.2 custom software. The smartphone sports a 6.3-inch (1080×2340 pixels) full-HD+ screen with 90.8 percent screen-to-body ratio, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 409ppi pixel density. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 AIE octa-core processor paired with Adreno 512 GPU, and it comes with 4GB/ 6GB/ 8GB RAM options.
Looking at the price, the specs on this smartphone are just amazing. It rivals the Mi A2 that launched recently. Also, the design of the Realme 2 pro is much prettier. Thanks to the waterdrop notch. The design of this phone is nearly identical to the Oppo F9 minus the shimmering geometric pattern at the back of the F9. Also, F9 has an oval fingerprint sensor, this phone has a circular one.
Oppo officials weren’t very forthcoming to us when we asked them about the potential release date. They didn’t confirm when the phone will be released but they didn’t deny that the phone will be released either. We are thinking that the phone will come to Nepal by the second week of October, end of October if the launch is delayed. People who don’t like Xiaomi but love their prices may see a sweet deal coming their way this Dashain. Fingers crossed.
