Although Nepali buyers are arriving late to the party, it’s still a good sign that a new foldable flagship has finally entered the market. Why is it a good sign? Let’s find out.

The OPPO Find N5 couldn’t have come at a better time. With Samsung ending pre-bookings for the Fold7 and it now being available in the market, it seems like the perfect opportunity for the Find N5 to make its mark.

Competition is always good for consumers, and with the announcement of the Find N5 launch, we might finally see the end of Samsung’s monopoly in the book-style foldable segment.

Now, let’s dive in and explore everything this phone has in store.

Oppo Find N5 Overview

Design

The Oppo Find N5 is super thin at only 8.93mm when folded; it’s slimmer than many foldable phones. You can finally put your phone in your pocket without having to switch to cargo pants.

And when you unfold it, it’s just 4.21mm thick! It also tips the scale at under 230g, which is impressively light for a device packing this much power.

Oppo achieved this sleekness with a titanium alloy flexion hinge, which they claim reduces the hinge’s thickness by 26%. The device is also TÜV Rheinland certified for reliable folding and minimized crease visibility.

However, not everything is sunshine and titanium. The phone lacks dust resistance and only carries IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 water resistance, great for splashes and submersion, but maybe don’t bring it to the beach on a windy day. And this is where the Samsung Z Fold7 comes on top with its IP48 dust and water resistance.

Due to the curved corners, the right corner is rounded, while the left remains flat when folded. It might look asymmetrical, or maybe that’s just my OCD acting up.

Also, because the phone is so thin, there’s no room for an under-display fingerprint scanner. Instead, Oppo has sensibly placed a side-mounted power button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor.

Display

When folded, the Oppo Find N5 sports a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a tall 20.7:9 aspect ratio, making it look and feel just like a regular smartphone. It offers a crisp FHD+ resolution (1140 x 2616 pixels) and a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate. And if you are worried about the creases, it has a TÜV Rheinland Minimized Crease Certification for smoother folding.

In terms of brightness, the outer screen can reach up to 600 nits typically, 1600 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM), and peaks at a dazzling 2450 nits.

Unfold the device, and you’re greeted with a massive 8.12-inch AMOLED display on the inside, with a near-square 2248 x 2480 resolution. It shares the same 600 nits typical brightness, though HBM here maxes out at 1400 nits, and peak brightness tops out at 2100 nits, still excellent for a foldable.

You also get a 240Hz touch sampling rate and support for 1.07 billion, no matter what screen you’re on. Not to forget, the phone also has full OPPO Pen support.

Hardware

Oppo Find N5 runs on the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite. Unfortunately, what we have here isn’t the full-fledged octa-core 8 Elite, but a slightly binned 7-core variant. They’ve nixed one core, but the rest of the magic, including the Adreno 830 GPU and Hexagon NPU, remains intact

Although you are missing a core, the phone might heat up, given the compact form factor. Thermal throttling could also be a concern, especially since Oppo hasn’t officially mentioned any dedicated cooling mechanism like a vapor chamber. Still, it’s likely tucked in there somewhere.

As for memory, the Find N5 is no slouch as it comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. This is the top variant of the phone, which is why its pricing is even higher than the Samsung Fold7.

Cameras

The camera department is not so shabby either. It is the world’s first foldable with the Hasselblad Master Camera System.

The main 50MP sensor is solid, but the 8MP ultra-wide camera feels underwhelming. Interestingly, the Find N5 includes a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom and a surprisingly short focusing distance.

This means it can double as a macro lens that captures close-up detail as near as 10cm. An innovative move compared to most phones that rely on the ultra-wide for close-ups.

On the selfie front, both the cover and inner screens feature an 8MP camera. When it comes to video, the rear camera setup can record in up to 4K at 60fps, while the front cameras max out at 4K 30fps.

Battery and OS

The Oppo Find N5 is powered by a 5,600mAh Silicon-carbon battery, a smart choice for a phone with such a slim profile. Silicon-carbon tech not only offers higher energy density but also helps keep the weight and size in check.

Charging is equally impressive, with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging support.

On the software front, the phone ships with Android 15, layered with Oppo’s ColorOS 15. Oppo is also promising 4 years of OS updates.

Oppo Find N5 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Oppo Find N5 Price in Nepal is Rs. 2,49,999 for the 16/512GB variantAfter teasing it for a couple of weeks, OPPO has finally launched the phone, and it is now available for purchase in authorized stores, both online and offline.

From the looks of it, OPPO Nepal strategically timed the launch of the Find N5 to coincide with Samsung’s Galaxy Fold7 hitting the market. And, they have done a great job. With similar specs, the competition between these two foldables is heating up.

For us consumers, one brand trying to outdo the other is always a win; it ultimately benefits us. As for which phone is the better choice, it’s not an easy call.

On one hand, the Find N5 packs the same flagship processor as its Samsung counterpart, while offering a bigger battery and faster charging. On the other hand, Samsung gives you a flagship-level camera and, of course, the brand value. So, I’ll leave the final decision… up to you.
