The much-anticipated MG Windsor EV has finally been launched in Nepal.
Paramount Motors, the official distributor of MG cars in Nepal, has expanded its lineup with the introduction of the MG Windsor EV, a compact utility vehicle tailored for urban commuting.
To give a little context about the car, the Windsor EV is essentially a rebranded version of the Baojun Cloud, a compact electric hatchback originally developed by Baojun, a Chinese brand under the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture. Since SAIC Motor also owns MG, the company introduced this model to the Indian market in September 2024 with updated branding and a few minor tweaks.
Since launch, it has gained strong traction in India, nearing 30,000 units sold and emerging as the country’s best-selling EV. A key driver of its success has been MG’s introduction of the “Battery-as-a-Service” (BaaS) model, which lowers the vehicle’s upfront cost by letting buyers pay for the battery based on usage.
As a result, MG India has been able to offer the Windsor EV at an aggressive price point. While this model has resonated well in India’s price-sensitive market, it will not to be offered in Nepal.
What is the Price of MG Windsor EV in Nepal?
MG Windsor EV price in Nepal starts at Rs. 37.99 Lakhs and goes up to Rs. 39.99 Lakhs. Moreover, it is available in two variants: Excite and Exclusive.
The Excite serves as the entry-level option, while the Exclusive stands as the top-spec model. The original Windsor EV lineup in India also includes a variant called “Essence,” which stands as the true top-spec model. It offers additional features over the Executive variant, making it the most feature-rich option in the range.
Moving on, MG Nepal offers an 8-year (or 120,000 km) warranty on the Windsor EV’s battery, adding value to the overall package.
With the introduction of the Windsor, MG Nepal has effectively filled the gap in its electric lineup. Until now, the range jumped from the compact, city-focused Comet EV to the more performance-oriented MG4 EV. For buyers seeking something more practical and capable than the Comet but not as aggressive or premium as the MG4, the Windsor EV now presents itself as the ideal middle ground.
Now, let’s have a quick look at key specs of MG Windsor EV in Nepal for 2025.

MG Windsor EV Overview
Exterior
The MG Windsor EV is a Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV) incorporating MG’s AeroGlide design language that seeks combines sleekness, sophistication, and aerodynamics. However, its exterior features a unique design that might divide opinions but exudes a distinct European flair, reminiscent of French automakers like Peugeot, Renault, and Citroën.
At the front, the Windsor features a sharply slanted and compact fascia highlighted by sleek connected LED DRLs. The LED Projector Headlamps sit lower on the body, flanking the grille area, integrated with a smooth aerodynamic panel. Additionally, the lower bumper sports a blacked-out mesh-style design, adding a bold and sporty touch.
The side profile highlights the impressive size of the car, made possible by the clean, non-protruding design at the front and sides. This design approach allows for a wider wheelbase, enhancing both stance and interior space. Depending on the variant, the Windsor rides on either 17-inch Steel Wheels or 18-inch Diamond-cut Alloy Wheels.
The rear design contrasts the front’s sloping theme with a flat, angular finish. However, it maintains the connected lighting aesthetic through a slim LED strip linking the taillights, echoing the design language of the front LEDs.
Additionally, MG Windsor EV is available in Pearl White and Starburst Black colors.

Interior
Inside, the Windsor impresses with ample space and thoughtful touches. Depending on the variant, the seats are available in either fabric or leatherette upholstery. Moreover, the seats have been dubbed as “Aero-Lounge Seats” for their ability to recline across multiple levels (up to 135°) along with the distinctive patterned stitching.
The dashboard features a large 15.6-inch Infotainment Screen in the Executive variant, while the Excite variant includes a more compact 10.1-inch display. However, both of these setups support Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
The minimalist interior design centralizes most controls on the touchscreen, reducing physical buttons. However, the two-spoke steering wheel retains physical controls for essential HVAC functions. The digital instrument cluster sits just behind the steering wheel. And, depending on the variant they come in either 7-inch size or 8.8-inch sized.
The Exclusive variant adds a few subtle upgrades to the interior. It features a Roller Shutter storage compartment on the front console, a 6-way Power-Adjustable driver seat (instead of the manual adjustment found in the Excite), a Wireless Phone Charger, Centre Arm Rest for the rear side. While these features are often overlooked, it does add to the convenience and improve the quality of the ride.
However, the true top variant called the “Essence” packed even more bits like Ambient Lighting, PM2.5 Filter, Infinity 9-Speaker Audio System, Glass Roof, and Ventilated Front Seats. Sadly, Essence is not presently introduced in the Windsor lineup for Nepal.

Rivals
The MG Windsor EV goes head-to-head with the BYD Dolphin, and its pricing strategy makes that intent clear. Priced between Rs. 38 Lakhs and Rs. 40 Lakhs, the Windsor undercuts the Dolphin’s Rs. 41.15 Lakhs tag, clearly aiming to attract cost-conscious buyers.
In terms of performance, the Windsor EV takes the lead with its powerful 100 kW motor, significantly outpacing the Dolphin’s 70 kW unit. This extra power gives the Windsor a clear edge in tackling steep gradients and intercity drives, making it more versatile than a city-only commuter.
However, the Windsor falls short in battery capacity. It packs a smaller 38 kWh battery, while the Dolphin features a larger 44.9 kWh unit. That extra capacity, paired with BYD’s highly efficient blade battery technology, translates to better range and long-term reliability.
The 2025 Dolphin update also replaces the traditional Lead-Acid low-voltage battery with a more durable LFP unit, further boosting longevity. Additionally, BYD has fine-tuned the Dolphin’s suspension for a sportier, more engaging ride, directly addressing previous complaints about a dull driving experience.
Where the Windsor does pull ahead is ground clearance which is an essential consideration for Nepal’s uneven road conditions. It offers 186 mm of clearance, compared to the Dolphin’s 175 mm. That said, the new Dolphin’s stiffer, sportier suspension setup may help reduce its disadvantage on rough roads.
When it comes to brand perception, both MG and BYD enjoy strong reputations. BYD, however, holds an edge with its deep focus on EV innovation and proven track record, backed by nearly 2500 Dolphins already on Nepali roads. MG, on the other hand, leans more into bold design and practical performance.
While the Windsor’s standout exterior may attract buyers looking for something fresh, it will take time to match the trust and familiarity the Dolphin has already earned as a reliable, family-friendly hatchback.
