After the launch of Celeriox X on March, CG Motocorp, the official sole distributor of Maruti Suzuki cars in Nepal, is all set to launch the new third generation Suzuki Swift in the Nepali market. The Suzuki Swift has been an instant bestseller by a huge margin since its early days. The Japanese-Indian company have included some new features and improved the Swift in many aspects compared to the older generations.
According to senior marketing manager of Maruti Mr. Karun Shakya, “The Swift is soon to be launched officially in Nepal and the pre-bookings have already begun from May 14. The buyer needs to pay an advance of Rs. 25,000 in order to pre-book the car.”
“Only the petrol variant of Swift will be available in the Nepali market. The available color schemes are red, blue, grey, silver and black. We are also providing a special package to the first 100 bookings of the next age of the Swift. The special package will be disclosed only when we will provide the vehicles to the first 100 bookings.”, said Mr. Shakya.
Maruti Suzuki Swift Specifications Outline
The Maruti Suzuki Swift is a performance-oriented hatchback powered by a 1.2k series motor, 1.3 multi-jet diesel, in-line 4-cylinder DOHC, 1197cc engine that produces a healthy power of 82 BHP at 6000 RPM and a peak of 113 NM of torque at 4200 RPM. They have introduced a 5-speed AMT gearbox this time around which the company prefers to call as AGS transmission. There are two variants in the petrol version and diesel version which further comes in manual and automatic transmission.
The overall shape of the Suzuki Swift is largely familiar with the older generations but there are big changes that make the Swift bolder and more modern. “Be Limitless” is a slogan befitting to the new generation of the Swift as it includes all its past great attributes along with the new intriguing features as well. It has got a new very large hexagonal grill upfront on its nose. The headlamp setup is a swept back angular full LED headlamp with DRl’s. It also contains regular fog lights at the bottom fitted perfectly on a carbon-fibre looking like covering. The dashboard consists of new looking fabrications and looks a lot better and classy than the previous version.
The Suzuki Swift has a fuel tank capacity of 37 liters and the claimed mileage is 22kmpl. The boot space is a bit bigger than the previous generations which is a great addition and its capacity is 268 liters. It is also a lighter hatchback than the older versions as it now only weighs at a kerb weight of 985 kg. The Swift has a turning radius of 4.80 meters and the seating capacity is 5. It has an electric adjustable flat power steering that assists in its turning capabilities.
The 5 seater all-new AMT gear driven Swift comes with a bunch of essential safety features such as airbags, passenger airbags, electronic brake force distribution, ABS, brake assist, engine immobilizer, headlamp beam adjuster, child safety lock and also lock sensors. The headspace compared to the previous versions has increased and the rear seats are adjusted in a way that there a lot of room for the legs. The touch console infotainment system on the dashboard supports apple car play and Android support as well.
Talking of the dimensions of the new age hatchback, its length is 3840mm, width is 1735mm, height is 1530mm, wheelbase is 2450mm and has a ground clearance of a considerable 163mm. The tyres are tubeless alloy wheels with the front being the size of 185/65 and rear of 185/65 as well. The front suspension consists of MacPherson Strut suspension and the rear is a Torision beam suspension which are quite impressive in all conditions.

But with the Swift reigning supreme in this category since years, the upgraded version is also expected to dominate the Nepali market.
