2025 KTM 390 Adventure Finally Launched in Nepal with Major Upgrades

After months of waiting, KTM Nepal has finally launched the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure at the NAIMA Mobility Expo 2025. Alongside the adventure tourer, KTM Nepal also rolled out updates for the Duke 200, Adventure 250, and the all-new Enduro 390.

Hansraj Hulaschand & Co., the authorized distributors of KTM bikes in Nepal, have brought the biggest upgrade to the KTM 390 Adventure series. There are now three versions in the 390 series, where each version caters to a different segment: 390 Adventure for adventure touring, 390 Duke for urban riding, and 390 Enduro for dual sport riding.

One of the flagship offerings, the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure, takes the overall lead in style, performance, and features. It not only addresses the shortcomings of the older Gen 2 but also goes all out in terms of features and practicality. The 390 Adventure series has significantly evolved since its debut in 2020, making the long-awaited upgrade in 5 years.

The new upgrade comes in two versions—390 Adventure S and 390 Adventure X—in the Indian market with the same engine. 2025 KTM 390 Adventure Overview

Design

The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure S brings a bold design overhaul, going back to KTM’s rally routes with the Dakar-inspired styling. It adopts a rally-style front end with massive side panels.

The vertically stacked high-intensity LED projector headlights are complemented by the surrounding DRLs. It not only establishes a strong road presence but also optimizes light throw and illumination for trails and highways.

There is a stark difference between generations, where the new design brings a more aggressive and modern identity. The redesigned windshield features a clear, upright structure with defined angular edges. It’s shaped to cut through the wind and keep your view clear.

Moreover, the high-mounted front fender and fork covers provide added protection during off-road adventures. It gets a sharp tank shroud—reminiscent of rally-style—to provide direct airflow to the engine for better cooling.

The side profile puts light on the 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. The front tyre has been increased from 19-inch alloys to 21-inch tubeless spoke wheels.

It comes with a reworked two-level single-piece seat that flows into the fuel tank. The seat is more accessible than before, thanks to a lower seat height, and it gets an improved foam density for long rides.

Furthermore, KTM has also updated the 5-inch TFT display, adding KTM Connect Smartphone Connectivity, Turn-by-Turn navigation, call functions, and music controls. Riders can access and control these features using the handlebar-mounted switches.

On the new 390 Adventure, the high-mounted underbelly exhaust boosts ground clearance, readying it for tougher trails. It works alongside grippy footpegs with removable rubber inserts to enhance rider mobility in off-road standing positions, while maintaining a low center of gravity for improved handling.

The rear section comes with a minimalistic LED Tail Lamp with integrated LED Indicators. KTM has narrowed down the overall section and finished it off with a rally-style tail tidy, blending the mounting brackets into the rear fender. They have integrated the pillion grab handles within the rear tail section for a cleaner look, which also doubles as soft pannier mounts.

Performance

KTM 390 Adventure is powered by a 398.63cc, Single-Cylinder, Liquid-cooled, DOHC, FI engine. It can generate a max power of 46 PS at 8500 rpm and a max torque of 39 Nm at 6900 rpm.

Moreover, it is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and a 14.5-liter fuel capacity.

KTM has added 3 extra teeth to the sprocket, changing it from 14T/43T to 14T/46T. This tweak gives you better gearing for both off-road and on-road rides, though it slightly cuts top speed and mileage.

The bike uses the latest LC4C Engine, 25.5cc higher displacement and lower compression than predecessor, to generate 2.5 PS more power and 2 Nm more torque to ensure better performance, smoother acceleration, and an optimized cylinder head.

Interestingly enough, KTM has not tuned the engine for the 390 Adventure; instead replicates a similar experience to its naked sibling.

As for the 2025 specific changes, it now features Cornering Motorcycle Traction Control (CTC), a Cruise Control, and Three Riding Modes—Rain, Street, or Sport. These features further complement other adventure-ready electronics like Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), Cornering ABS, Off-road ABS, Super Moto ABS, and a Slipper Clutch.

The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure steps up its off-road game with a new E3 classification—up from E2—according to KTM’s official bike category scale (E0–E5). Notably, the 390 Adventure frame is rated E4-capable, providing considerable off-road potential with the right tuning.

For context, E1 bikes are for paved roads, while E2 bikes are suited for gravel and light trails. E3 bikes handle loose surfaces, minor jumps up to 60 cm, and technical terrain. E4 bikes tackle tougher obstacles and hardcore off-roading, and E5 is for expert riders on extreme terrain without road use.

Like its naked sibling, KTM has equipped the 390 Adventure with a Split-Trellis Frame, bringing a welcome change in dimensions, suspension travel, seat height, and ground clearance.

43mm WP APEX USD Forks and WP APEX Monoshock handle the suspension duties.

Compared to the Gen 1, the Gen 2 iterations sport a fully adjustable setup for both front—30 clicks Compression and Rebound Damping, and back—20 clicks Rebound Damping and 10-steps preload adjustment. This has increased the average front and rear suspension travel up to 205 mm, a 30 mm increase from 175mm.

Similarly, the seat height is 830mm, a reduction of 25mm, whereas the ground clearance has been increased by 37mm, bringing the ground clearance to 237mm.

While there is no current information on the overall dimensions, the wheelbase sits at 1470mm, an increase from the previous 1430mm. And, the kerb weight is 5 kilos heavier at 182 kg.
