Jaecoo J6T Launching in Nepal: More Than a Facelift But Less Than a Revolution

The first off-road electric SUV of Nepal is getting some major updates in 2026, but are those changes meaningful? We will find out in this article. Meanwhile, the upgraded J6, called the Jaecoo J6T, is launching on March 23, 2026, and will take the helm of its predecessor, J6.

SPG Automobiles, the authorized distributor for Jaecoo vehicles in Nepal, is preparing to introduce an updated version of the Jaecoo J6. The changes may look subtle but they aim to refine the overall experience rather than reinvent it. Although it also raises a fair question: “Is this a meaningful upgrade, or just a light refresh to keep the model relevant?”

Jaecoo, a sub-brand of Chery, entered the global market in 2023 with a clear export-focused strategy. It operates alongside Omoda, which has already built a strong presence in Nepal thanks to the success of the Omoda E5.

Interest in off-road capable EVs is slowly picking up in Nepal, and distributors of Jaecoo seem keen to tap into that space before it fully matures. The real question now is what this updated J6 actually brings over its predecessor, and whether those improvements justify what will likely be a slightly higher price point.

Jaecoo J6T Overview

Exterior

The Jaecoo J6T brings a bold one-box wide-body design and builds on the J6’s boxy, cubiform silhouette. The retro-inspired proportions of J6T is rooted in the iCar 03 as well, but pushes the concept further with a more aggressive execution.

At the front, Jaecoo replaces the rugged unpainted panel of the J6 with a gloss black Dual Guard and a sportier bumper design. A continuous black trim piece connects the LED headlamps and removes the J6’s vertical ‘i’-shaped DRL signature, as previously seen in the J6.

From the side, the the extended over fenders and flared arches give it a muscular and extended profile. Beyond the muscular stance, compared to the bland sides of the J6, the J6T version adds more visual depth with subtle air vents on front fenders. Overall length has also been increased by 27 mm and the ground clearance is raised by 25 mm (measuring at 225 mm).

At the rear, Jaecoo updates the bumper while the soft-touch storage compartment remains intact into the tailgate. Also, the funky looking “i” shaped tailgate continues to give it a playful touch when looked from this side.

There are Grey, Green, Silver, Black, and White colors to choose from for the exterior of the J6T.

Interior

The interior is similar to the J6 and doesn’t have any buttons anywhere. Interior theme might come in black-black theme although there’s a white-black one available as well.

The cabin gets updated seat patterns and a different steering wheel design. The steering wheel replaces the “i” centered logo with a cleaner “Jaecoo” writing. There is ventilation on all seats on the J6T and the front seats might also have massage function in them. Electrical adjustability for front seats remains standard.

The dashboard is still dominated by a 15.6-inch infotainment screen and quite annoyingly, all the features and function can be only accessed via this screen since the cabin is deprived of physical buttons.

Moreover, other bits remain the same as well. You still get the 9.2-inch instrument cluster, 12-speaker Infinity sound system, wireless charging, sunroof, and dual zone AC, along with other amenities.

Performance

The Jaecoo J6T is powered by a 135 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). It generates a max power of 183.5 PS and a max torque of 220 Nm.

It is supported by a 69.8 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery and has a 418 km of WLTP range (400 km on the J6). Moreover, the charging time from 0 to 100% is around 10 hours with a 7.2 kW AC Charger. Under fast charging conditions, Jaecoo J6 can charge from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes.

The Jaecoo J6T uses an all-aluminum structure, similar to models from Land Rover. This construction reduces weight while maintaining a strong strength-to-weight ratio, which helps improve efficiency and overall range.

A lighter body also enhances performance and handling, making the J6 feel more responsive and agile, especially in off-road conditions. At the same time, aluminum does not compromise safety. In fact, premium brands like Mercedes-Benz and Tesla use similar materials to balance lightweight construction with structural strength.

Jaecoo J6T accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 150 km/h.

Additional Details

Front McPherson Strut and Rear Multi-Link handle the suspension duties.

The overall dimensions are 4433 mm in length, 1916 mm wide, and 1741 mm tall. Moreover, the wheelbase sits at 2715 mm.

The ground clearance is 215 mm. And, the kerb weight is 1775 Kg.
