Itel S23 with 6.6” HD+ 90Hz Display Hits Shelves in Nepal

Itel is a China-based company that has been selling budget phones in Nepal. While they are not very popular among general consumers, Itel has been trying to establish itself in the budget phone category. They sell both smartphones and feature phones in Nepal.

Itel has been selling the Vision-series and A-series phone in Nepal and the Itel S23 will be the first S-series to be introduced in Nepal. In this article, we will discuss the specifications of the phone.

Itel S23 Overview

Design

The Itel S23 has a pretty unique design. The circular camera module with 4 slots on it, captures your eyes at first glance, but one of them is just there for symmetry. The remaining are cameras and flash. The back of this 8.44 thick phone is flat and the phone has rounded corners for easier grip.

Itel has made the back with a color-changing material. When exposed to UV or sunlight the back of the phone which is photochromic, changes color. We’ve seen this design style before on Vivo phones but it’s nice to see Itel implement it on budget phones as well.

Display

The phone sports a 6.6-inch IPS display and has a teardrop notch for the front camera in the center. The display is HD+ resolution with a display sharpness of 267ppi (pixels per inch).

The bezels are not very thin, especially the chin is pretty noticeable but it is what we expected of phones in this budget. We do get a 90Hz refresh rate which is a welcome addition and the phone also features a 180Hz touch sampling rate.

Hardware

The Itel S23 is powered by the Unisoc T606 (12nm) processor. It is an octa-core processor with 2 Cortex-A75 at 1.6GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 at 1.6GHz while the graphics is handled by Mali-G57 MP1.

The chipset is one we’ve seen on other budget phones and the phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Camera

The Itel S23 features a dual camera setup, at least on paper, with a 50MP f1.6 primary camera and an unspecified QVGA sensor. Well, you can only use the main camera for photos.

The front has an 8MP selfie camera capable of photos and is useful for video calls.

Battery and OS

The phone has a 5000mAh battery with support for 10W wired charging. The phone will take over 3 hours for a full charge but the battery will also last a pretty long time due to the low-resolution display and power-less chipset.

The smartphone runs on Android 12, out of the box.

Itel S23 price in Nepal is Rs. 15,890 (8/128GB). You can purchase the phones from retail shops in Nepal and also through e-commerce platforms.
