Apple iPad Mini 6 (2021) with new Design and A15 Bionic Chip Launched in Nepal

At the 2021 virtual Apple September event, Apple announced the new iPhone 13 series and Apple Watch Series 7. With that, they also refreshed the iPad 10.2-inch and iPad mini. After a month of its initial launch, the iPad mini 2021 is finally here in Nepal.

Apple iPad mini 2021 Overview

Design

The design of the new iPad mini 6th generation is completely redesigned. This is probably the first iPad mini to get a major design change.

All of the previous iPad minis used to look the same with those big bezels and a home button. But the new iPad mini 6 is different. It now features an all-screen display with narrow bezels.

The home button is also removed and the corners of the display are now rounded to provide a modern look. The rear camera also has a flashlight and a camera bump.

The iPad mini comes in four different colors: purple, pink, starlight, and space gray.

Display

iPad mini has a larger 8.3-inch Liquid Retina Display with a resolution of 2266 x 1488 pixels.

The display is coated with a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and an anti-reflective coating. The display supports true tone technology and also has a brightness of up to 500 nits.

Hardware

Apple iPad mini 2021 uses the same chipset as the Apple iPhone 13 line-up. It has the Apple A15 Bionic chip that has 6 CPU cores, 5 GPU cores, and 16 Neural Engine cores.

The new iPad mini comes with two memory capacities: 64GB and 256GB. It also has a dual stereo speaker setup and dual microphones.

Since there is no home button on this iPad, the touch ID has been integrated on the power button—just like in the iPad Air. This new iPad mini now also supports 2nd generation Apple Pencil.

As before, this new Apple iPad mini 6th gen also comes in two variants: Wi-Fi only and cellular plus Wi-Fi support. Wi-Fi + Cellular model supports eSIM and Nano-SIM and is also 5G enabled.

And instead of a lightning port, we now have a USB Type-C port on the iPad mini (2021).

Camera

The new iPad mini still has a single rear camera, but it now uses a 12MP sensor with a larger f/1.8 aperture lens and a truetone flash.

With this new camera and the latest chipset, the iPad mini can now record in 4K.

On the front, it features a 12MP ultra-wide camera. With this, the center stage feature introduced on the iPad Pro is now brought to the new iPad mini.

Battery and Others

The device comes with a 19.3Wh battery. The company claims it can last up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi or watching the video. Using the cellular data network, it can last up to 9 hours of surfing the web.

Furthermore, the iPad comes with the iPadOS 15. And there is also a new accessory for the iPad mini (6th generation). There is a new set of Smart Folio covers in five different colors.

Apple also lets customer customize their iPad mini for free with custom texts and emojis. Sadly, this feature will not be available in Nepal since Apple does not directly deliver the products to Nepal.

Apple iPad mini 6th generation is by far the most upgraded device that was announced at the Apple September event. With a complete redesign inside and outside, it not only looks modern but is also equipped with the latest and the greatest hardware.

I wish Apple had included a ProMotion display with the iPad mini 2021, but I guess we’ll have to wait a little longer. The center stage feature was loved by a lot of people on the iPad Pro, and it now comes to the iPad mini as well, making video calls more fun and easier.

And it now also supports 5G and 2nd gen Apple Pencil. Overall, it is a powerful device in a small form factor.
