Infinix Smart 9 with a 120Hz Display Launched in Nepal

The Infinix Smart 9 has officially launched in the Nepalese market.

The Infinix Smart 9, the successor to the Infinix Smart 8, launched in Nepal with updated specs and at a price comparable to its predecessor. It features a 120Hz LCD display, a MediaTek Helio processor, a 13MP main camera, and a 5000mAh battery.

Infinix Smart 9 Overview

Design

The Infinix Smart 9 features an all-plastic design with a matte finish. On the back, a squircle camera island houses two camera lenses and a flash in three distinct cutouts. Additionally, the Infinix logo is displayed vertically in the bottom left corner.

The side rails of the phone too come in a matte finish. They have a flat profile and house the fingerprint sensor and the volume buttons to the right, the SIM card slot on the left and the 3.5mm jack on the top. Finishing the look is the USB-C port on the bottom. Summing it up, the phone doesn’t have any unique standout design elements and looks modern and functional.

Display

On the front, the phone has a 6.7-inch hole punch display IPS LCD display. It has a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a maximum brightness of 500nits.

One unique selling point of this display is its quite high refresh rate of 120Hz which is found mostly on upper midrange and flagship devices only. However, this needs to be taken with a grain of salt because while looking nice on paper, the maximum refresh rate might not extend to apps and games and be limited to 90 or even 60Hz only.

Infinix has also included some handy software features like an always-on mode and Apple’s Dynamic Island-like feature called ‘Dynamic Bar’.

Hardware

In terms of hardware, the phone comes with a MediaTek Helio G81 processor. The newly released chip looks like it is based on the much older Helio G85 as it has a similar core layout (2x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 and 6x 1.7 GHz Cortex-A55) and is made with a similar 12nm fabrication process.

Nothing special to talk about here. Being an entry-level device, the Smart 9 comes with just one usable 13MP, f/1.85 main camera and an unspecified auxiliary lens.

Besides that, there is also an 8MP selfie camera that rests on the top center of the display. Both the front and the rear cameras can record up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Battery and OS

In terms of battery, the Smart 9 smartphone comes with a 5000mAh cell that supports just 10W charging through the included USB-C port. Infinix claims that the included battery provides up to 9.8 hours of continuous gaming time and around 12 hours of TikTok browsing.

The device runs on lighter Android 14 Go Edition out of the box with Infinix’s XOS 14 skin applied on top.

The Infinix Smart 9 price in Nepal is Rs. 11,999 (3/64GB). It is available for purchase from authorized retailers across Nepal.

The Infinix Smart 9 is a good smartphone that brings plenty of processing power, a 120Hz display, and a good battery life at a fairly affordable price. While this phone can be considered one of the best smartphones under 12000, the device, cutting corners in areas like the cameras and storage may be less appealing to some users.
