Huawei did just launch their Watch GT 2 in Nepal about a week ago ago and now its already shipping their new Band 4 and Band 4E fitness trackers all around Asia. The Huawei Band 4 was launched on October 23rd in China. Since then, because of its flexible functionalities and pricings, its managed to capture a lot of attention all around Asia. Now, it’s making finally made its way to Nepal.
Right now, both these variants are available for purchase in Daraz. And, guess what? The original products are actually available for a discounted price which has further lowered their price! By the way, the Huawei Band 4 price in Nepal is set Rs 4,440 while, the lesser known Huawei Band 4E comes at Rs 3,400.
So, a cheaper alternative at a discounted price, many of you may already be thinking that this fitness tracker is not worth it. Well, I can’t blame you but hopefully I can clear the doubts you may have about these trackers. So, let’s get down to business.
Huawei Band 4 Summary
Appearance
In terms of appearance, the Huawei Band 4 is both like and unlike most of the fitness trackers in the budget category. It has looks that resemble most of the other fitness trackers in the series but there’s a lot of differentiating factors. The screen feels a bit boxier with round edges and the home button is rectangular-ish. The home button is not bad but personally, I don’t like it that much. The side straps are all silicone with three colors namely, black, orange, and pinkish white colors to choose from.
For communications, the band features a Bluetooth 4.2 and it supports smartphones that has Android 4.4 or later/ iOS 9.0 or later. And lastly, the band is still waterproof up to 5 ATM.
“Hidden” USB Interface
The biggest upgrade in the tracker in terms of overall design is that it now supports USB portable charging. Basically, the device is equipped with a hidden USB interface which can be revealed by pressing a button on the band. This USB interface can be used for charging. It’s a little hard to wrap your mind around, but just think of it as a portable USB built into the band itself. On the rear, we have a window for sensors which are basically the hearts of the system.
Display
The touch-sensitive screen of the Huawei Band 4 is a 0.96” OLED screen which consists of 160 x 80 pixels. The display settings can be toggled to adjust brightness. There are 5 basic levels; where basic 2-3 should be enough in indoor cases but a 5 could be necessary for direct sunlight. The basic interface isn’t all that different from the other fitness trackers.
Functionalities
The Huawei Band 4 has received a lot of major functional upgrades over its forerunners. The usual set of features: time, date, steps, distance, calories, weather, heart rate tracking, sleep tracking, timer, stopwatch, alarm clock, phone search are all here. What’s great is that Huawei’s TruSeen 3.5 heart rate technology, developed by Huawei, is more accurate than ever. The sleep tracking mode is now more advanced as well.
Battery
As for battery, the tracker has a capacity of 91 mAh. With the general sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring and other basic usage could get around 7 days of battery life. Its satisfactory but not good in my opinion. There are other trackers that offer a lot more battery life than this so I expected better. But hey, it’s not a deal breaker for me.

Huawei Band 4e Summary
The Huawei Band 4E is the modest version of the Huawei Band 4. Since it is the smaller of the two, it’s obviously not as good as the Band 4 and costs a lot less. So, what are the things to watch out for?
Appearance
The Huawei Band 4e is a lot less boxy and a bit rounder. The strap carrying the actual hardware is made up of recycled material and is actually light-weighted. With the Band 4e, you have the freedom to either wrap it around your wrist or directly lodge it into your shoes.Frankly speaking, among the Band 4 and Band 4e, I think the Band 4e is more appealing. There’s no fancy hidden USB underneath like the Band 4 and can using the standard in-box charger. Oh, and it still has the water resistance up to 5 ATM as well.
All in all, my vote for appearance goes to the Huawei Band 4e. Which do you think is the more attractive among the two?
Functionalities
For display, the Huawei band 4e features a 0.5” PMOLED screen with round touch button for navigational controls. As for communications, the band features a Bluetooth 4.2 and it supports smartphones that has Android 4.4 or later/ iOS 9.0 or Later. The usual set of features: time, date, steps, distance, calories, weather, heart rate tracking, sleep tracking, timer, stopwatch, alarm clock, phone search are all here too. Though the heart rate and sleep tracking may not be as great as the Band 4.
Something that comes along with the Band 4e is the ability to monitor your basketball performance. The basketball mode provides detailed data to help you get better by checking your data. You can check vertical jump, height and hang time, track basic movement stats, including speed, distance and steps.
Battery
The battery capacity for the Huawei Band 4e is 77mAh. As per Huawei, the Band 4e provides 2 weeks of battery with regular use. On standby mode, they’ve claimed that it goes all the way up to 21 days!

Huawei Band 4 and 4e Impression
Both the Huawei Band 4 and Band 4e are excellent fitness trackers. The Band 4e provides more functionalities and in overall is a more balanced tracker. I specifically, don’t like the screen of the Band 4 but that should not be a problem for most people.
The Band 4e on the other hand is quite appealing to me. That’s based solely on the design of Band 4e though. If what Huawei says on paper for the Bands are true then, I guess they’re both quite worth the amount that you spend on the devices, I think.
So, that’s all that I’ve got to say about the Huawei Band 4 series. Do you think the Huawei Band 4 is better than the Mi Band 4? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
