Huawei Watch GT 2, 46mm Model, Launched in Nepal: Great Battery Life and Cool Features!

Huawei is one of the companies that are on the leading fronts of the whole smartphone scenario. Aside from smartphones, Huawei is also expanding its market in the smartwatch section. With the Huawei Watch GT, they were slowly setting the pace. And now, they have decided to launch the 2nd iteration of the Huawei Watch GT series.

Well, guess what? The Huawei GT 2 is finally here in Nepal! Currently, the standard 46mm model, classic variant, is only available in Nepal.

The watch is now exclusively available in Daraz and offline stores for the starting price of Rs 29,900.

What’s more exciting is that Daraz is currently offering a 5% discount on the product giving off a huge Rs 1,500 discount; which in turn lowers the price down to Rs 28,405!

Okay, so now let’s have a quick look at the Huawei Watch GT 2.

Design and Display

Huawei has gone with a minimalistic design on the Huawei Watch GT 2. The device features a classy elegant design with just two knobs on the sides to control/interact with the watch. The sidebands can be changed as per the user’s convenience to either a silicon, metal or leather setup.Huawei Watch GT 2, unlike its forerunner, is coming in two different sizes. A 42mm Elegant model and a standard 46mm model. Both the variants feature an AMOLED screen. The 46mm model has 1.39 inches screen with a screen resolution of 454 x 454 pixels. While the 42mm model has a 1.2 inches screen with a screen resolution of 390 x 390 pixels.  The details are sharp, crisp clear and the color management on the device seems quite good as well. By far the best feature on the device is the always-on display.

Performance and Battery

Underneath, the device has a Kirin A1 chipset which is specifically tailored towards Huawei’s wearables. The chipset is great for performance but is mostly designed to focus on battery and Bluetooth connectivity.

Speaking about battery, Huawei claims that the 42mm watch will last around 1 week on a single charge while the 46mm variant is claimed to last around 2 weeks with a single charge.

OS

Running on top is Huawei’s own lite OS, which is clean and is easy to use. Some sources have claimed that there are bugs in the OS but we’ll have to perform tests to ensure them. However,  the functionalities are quite limited on this OS due to the absence of the play store. Basic functionalities are supported. Besides that, there’s built-in GPS, constant heart rate monitoring and tracking feature for running, cycling and other stuff.

Miscellaneous

Other than that, there’s also a speaker and a mike on this watch. You could technically take calls but only when it is paired to your phone. Though note that the Bluetooth calling is supported on the 46mm series only. You can load music onto the watch’s 4GB internal storage as well. The Huawei Watch GT 2 has decent speakers so you could listen to music straight out of the watches as well.

The watch does not have built-in WiFi or cellular connectivity and no presence of a store of any sort though. Both phones have a really small amount of RAM. The smaller one has a 16MB while the larger one has a 32MB RAM. It’s pretty low but I believe that the lite OS on the watch can manage itself in this case as well. The phone also has a 5 ATM water resistance which is pretty handy.

Huawei Watch GT 2 Price in Nepal & Impressions

The Huawei Watch GT 2 price in Nepal is set Rs. 29,900. The watch is currently available at discounted price on Daraz.

The watch is more of a fitness tracker than a smartwatch after all. And I think it has all the correct aspects for tracking purposes. The screen seems great, lite OS is smooth, the battery life is insane and it has some cool features. As of now, everything on paper seems really great. I am a little worried about lags on this device though. Whether or not the device will manage itself is yet to be tested.

So, in the end, what are your opinions on the watch? Do let us know in the comments down below.
