HP Spectre Available In Nepal. Is It Too Thin?

HP Spectre is now available in Nepal at NeoStore. HP has been marketing it as the thinnest laptop as it measures just 10.4mm thick. It is one of the best ultrabooks of 2016 rivaling the likes of Razer Blade Stealth and Dell XPS 13.

HP Spectre looks stunning visually and everything about it looks premium; especially, the flashy gold top bar and the hinge. The top surface is aluminum and the bottom surface is made up of carbon fiber. On the back, there are three USB C ports and an audio jack. The back is removable but it has an 8GB RAM slot which is not upgradeable and it has an average 256GB SSD.

The HP Spectre comes with a 1080p IPS panel with gorilla glass protection. Color accuracy is quite impressive with 100% sRGB and 77% RGB accuracy. It uses a hyperbaric cooling system so even though it’s very thin it won’t get too hot and the CPU won’t throttle with average usage. Although, if you edit videos and play heavy games the CPU throttle will get noticeable. Battery lasts 5-6 hrs with average usage which is not great for an ultrabook but still it’s good.

In Nepal, it is available for Rs 1,75,000 which I think is very overpriced for what the laptop has to offer. HP Spectre does provide ultra-portability but it lacks the performance and battery life compared to that of other ultrabooks in similar price range. HP Spectre certainly won’t be getting much attention in Nepal. It’s overpriced and the alternatives to HP Spectre manages to fill in all the blanks where it fails.

If you want a premium looking ultra portable laptop then you should grab it if you can afford it. But if you’re looking for more performance then the Dell XPS 13 and Razer Blade Stealth are certainly the better options.
