DJI RS 4 Overview

Design

Overall, the base design of the RS 4 hasn’t changed much from its predecessor. The shape and position of the control stick, battery grip, and tilt arm are the same as the RS 3’s.

DJI RS 4 Features

The differences between the two show in their size and weight. The RS 4 comes in a bit heavier at 1.4 kg and bigger than the RS 3. The larger tilt arm size does mean that the gimbal can now incorporate cameras with a bigger body, however, the payload carrying capacity of the RS 4 remains the same at up to 3 kg.

The gimbal also features a redesigned horizontal plate that enables the second-generation native vertical shooting. You can simply release the horizontal plate and secure it into the vertical position for an easy switch to vertical shooting.

Visually, the most significant difference between the RS 3 and the RS 4 is the removal of the red streak paint from the tilt arm of the RS 4. The axis arms of the RS 4 also now come coated in Teflon for ‘reduced friction and smoother balancing’ as per DJI’s claims.

RS 4 Controls

On the controls side, the RS 4 comes with a 1.8-inch touchscreen, below that is the joystick that controls the gimbal arms, and beside the joystick are the record and the M button. On the left of the touchscreen is the joystick mode switch and finally, on the front, are the dial and the trigger of the gimbal.
