Dell Inspiron 16 with AMD’s Ryzen AI Processor Now Available!

The Dell Inspiron 16 laptop is now available for purchase in Nepal.

The Dell Inspiron 5645 is a new laptop designed mainly for business or school use with an emphasis on AI. It sports Dell’s minimalist clean look. Configuration-wise, it comes with a display that has a 16:10 aspect ratio, giving you a bit more vertical screen space.

You can pick between AMD Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 processors that have Ryzen AI NPU built-in, 8 or 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage.

Design

As far as the design of this laptop goes, Dell doesn’t try anything new or fancy and just goes for an elegant, practical look. The aluminum lid and palm rest have a uniform color throughout and like any other Dell product, you can find the logo etched on the center of the lid.

When you open it up, you’ll see a slim bezel around the display and a full-sized backlit keyboard, which also has the fingerprint sensor/power button. The touchpad is on the smaller side and a bit off-center, which might bother some customers.

The palm rest is sturdy and clean-looking. There are no design frills, vents, or speaker grilles on the inside—just plain and simple with smoothed-out edges on the palm rest ensuring comfortable use.

Regarding weight, the laptop does come on the heftier side at 1.89 kg, but Dell’s laptops always have had a solid build quality.

Display

Onto the display, the Inspiron 16 5645 comes with a 16-inch FHD+ display that has an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The 60Hz WVA panel has an anti-glare coating applied on top and can reach a maximum brightness of 250nits.

The display isn’t exactly jaw-dropping and isn’t really suited for graphics or design work. It’s more about getting the job done rather than being a standout feature of the laptop.

Hardware and Connectivity

The Dell Inspiron 16 5645 packs either an AMD Ryzen 5 8540U with 6 cores and 12 threads, or a Ryzen 7 8840U with 8 cores and 16 threads. Both the processors are an all-in-one chip, which means they also include the Radeon GPU and Ryzen AI NPU along with the processor cores.

With AI taking center stage nowadays, this laptop too is designed with AI in mind. Besides featuring a powerful AI-focused processor, the laptop also has a dedicated Microsoft CoPilot key.

The CoPilot AI can assist with daily tasks like managing your budget, scheduling appointments, and crafting email responses. Plus, the processor is built to handle all sorts of AI-related computing and development work, making it a great tool for both tech enthusiasts and professionals.

Here in Nepal, the laptop comes with either 8 or 16GB of RAM and 512 or 1TB of SSD. However, you can increase the total memory capacity of the laptop through expandable slots though the same could not be said for the storage.

For connectivity, the Inspiron 16 has all the ports you’d expect. On the right side, you’ve got a USB-A port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a full-sized SD card slot. On the left, there’s the charging port, an HDMI port, another USB-A port, and a USB-C port that supports Power Delivery.

Battery

In terms of power, the laptop comes with a 4-cell, 54Wh battery that charges via a 65W barrel plug adapter. Besides that, the battery can also charge through the USB-C port at 1/4th of power.

Dell promises the battery delivers more than 15 hours of backup when streaming video and up to 11 hours and 20 minutes when performing slightly load-heavy tasks.
