A new Nepali multi-brand home appliances and consumer electronics retail chain store called Big Digital launched its first store at Gwarko Complex, Gwarko, Lalitpur on July 20, 2022.
The store plans to grow its geographic reach by opening three new stores in the Kathmandu valley very soon.
The store was formally inaugurated by Nepali actress Swastima Khadka, who is also the brand ambassador of Big Digital. Speaking at the occasion, Khadka expressed her wish for the continuous growth and expansion of the store in the days to come.
Registered as Big Digital Universe Pvt. Ltd., the store currently has over 90 international brands of home appliances, mobile phones, laptops, television, air conditioners, refrigerators, and even musical instruments. The retailer wants to expand its selection of brands more in the future.
The store only sells genuine products through authorised distributors. Some of the current brands are Xiaomi, Apple, Dell, Panasonic, Sansui, Yasuda, Hitachi, Baltra, Midea, Acer, OnePlus, Yamaha, Oppo, JBL, Faber, Lenovo, Beko, Hawkins, Samsung, Realme, Havells, Rapoo, Oppo, Lloyd, Corsair, and many more.
Big Digital Stores in Nepal
The store plans to expand its physical presence in three new locations in the Kathmandu valley soon, namely Pulchowk, Sitapaila, and Bhaktapur.
The Gwarko store has an area of 6,000 sq. ft., which is already significantly bigger than a typical store in Nepal, but the retailer says that it is one of its smallest stores.
Both Pulchowk and Sitapaila will have larger stores, with Sitapaila having the largest space at around 12,000 square feet, comprising two floors with 6,000 square feet each.
Vikramesh Ojha, CEO of Big Digital, said that Big Digital aims to establish 20 to 25 outlets within the next five years, covering each of the country’s seven provinces.
“The prime objective behind establishing the store is to offer the international brands of superior quality to Nepali consumers in an exceedingly easy manner.
Big Digital is committed to set new benchmarks in the country’s shopping sector by fulfilling the evolving needs and aspirations of Nepali consumers.”
— Vikramesh Ojha, CEO of Big Digital
The retailer said that it will offer free delivery of big and heavy products such as refrigerators and washing machines.
The Gwarko Big Digital store has three floors. The ground floor features home appliances. The first floor has mobile phones, accessories, LED TVs, and audio systems. Likewise, laptops, IT gadgets, and musical instruments are displayed on the second floor.
EMI, After-Sales Service, and Online Shop
The retailer may offer EMI services to its customers in two different ways: first, using credit cards, and second, through Foneloan, a Buy Now, Pay Later service offered by selected banks in Nepal.
For warranties and after-sales service, as the store only sells genuine products from authorised distributors in Nepal, the after-sales service is also provided by the respective product brand. Big Digital asserts that it will be in charge of all procedures and follow-ups related to the service, making it easy for customers.
Additionally, the shop would make every effort to speed up the service process. Ideally, the service will be provided within 48 hours, according to Big Digital.
The company said that it is solely focusing on the offline customer experience for now. Although its website is ready for the e-commerce platform, the retailer wants to first make the offline experience for customers positive and trustable.
For now, customers can view the available products, their prices, and their availability on Big Digital’s website at www.bigdigital.com.np.
