Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED, Thinnest 13-inch OLED Laptop, Launched in Nepal

At the Thincredible product launch event held by Asus on April 21, 2023, the company unveiled the Zenbook S 13 OLED, the latest addition to its Zenbook lineup, which claims the title of the world’s slimmest OLED ultraportable laptop. This laptop is now officially available in Nepal.

Nagmani International, the authorized distributor of Asus in Nepal, today announced the launch of the Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED (UX5304) in the country.

Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED 2023 Overview

Design

The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED, the 2023 model, is an incredibly thin and lightweight laptop. It measures a mere 10.9mm in thickness and weighs only 1kg, making it ideal for travel.

Asus proudly claims that this is the world’s slimmest 13-inch OLED laptop.

Asus says that the Zenbook S 13 OLED achieves its slim profile through advanced techniques and materials, including a thinner FHD IR camera embedded in the CNC-machined lid. The internal layout is optimized using precision CNC machining, resulting in more space, better performance, and fewer circuit board layers.

The motherboard is precision-engineered to house an additional, ultrathin fan for improved cooling. To minimize weight, a durable magnesium-aluminum alloy is used for the keyboard deck, while the touchpad is covered with ultra-thin glass, further reducing the keyboard deck’s thickness.

Although the laptop is thin, it does not miss out on I/O ports. The laptop has a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports (40Gbps) that support both display and power delivery, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.

Asus introduces a new manufacturing process for the lid of the Zenbook 13 S OLED, utilizing a plasma ceramic aluminum material. This environmentally friendly method, using pure water and electricity, enhances wear resistance, corrosion protection, thermal management, and hardness, according to Asus. Each lid is unique, resembling natural stone, aligning with the Zenbook series’ spirit.

Asus also claims that the device is the most eco-friendly Zenbook ever made, using recycled materials in its construction, recyclable packaging, and exceeding energy efficiency standards. Its sustainability initiatives aim for carbon neutrality.

Display

As the name of the laptop suggests, the Zenbook S 13 OLED boasts a 13.3-inch OLED display.

Asus is calling this display the Asus Lumina OLED display, which according to Asus is their “brand-new name that’s only given to superior OLED displays that meet Asus’s strict quality criteria, and offer a visual experience that’s more accurate, more adaptive, and more reliable.”

It is a 16:10 aspect ratio display with a resolution of 1800 x 2880 pixels and 0.2ms response time. Additionally, it’s a glossy panel and it has a peak brightness of 550 nits.

As well as offering Dolby Vision certification, the display is also DisplayHDR True Black 500-certified for providing excellent contrast between bright whites and deep blacks. Additionally, it also carries the Pantone Validated badge for industry-standard color accuracy.

Hardware and Connectivity

The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED (UX5304) model in Nepal comes equipped with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1355U processor.

This processor has 2 performance cores (P-cores) and 8 efficient cores (E-cores), for a total of 10 cores and 12 threads. Contrary to the standard 15W Core i7-1355U, Asus has configured the CPU with a higher 20W TDP, resulting in a 20% performance boost, as claimed by Asus.

The base clock of the P-cores is 1.7GHz and can go up to 5.0GHz. Similarly, the efficient cores range from 1.3GHz to 3.7GHz. All the cores share a 12MB L3 cache. The processor is equipped with Intel Iris Xe Graphics.

Paired with the CPU are 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. The RAM is soldered so it is not upgradeable, but the SSD can be upgraded.

Additionally, dual-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 are supported on this laptop.

For video conferencing, Asus has included a Full HD IR camera with “AI-powered visual effects and AI noise-cancelation technology”. It also supports fast and secure face login with Windows Hello.

The Harman Kardon-certified audio system with Dolby Atmos sound has a smart amplifier combined with ASUS Audio Booster technology to boost volume by up to 5.25X.

The 9.5%-larger ASUS ErgoSense touchpad has an easy-to-clean anti-fingerprint coating.

Battery

The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED has a 4-cell 63Wh battery. Asus claims it can provide up to 14 hours of video streaming. For charging, the laptop comes with a 65W USB-C charger.
