Apple MacBook Pro 16 with M2 Pro and M2 Max to Launch Soon in Nepal

Apple recently launched the all-new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro featuring the new M2 Pro and M2 Max. And, it is set to arrive in Nepal very soon.

Even though there has been no official announcement, the authorized retailer of Apple in Nepal, Oliz Store has already listed the M2 Pro and M2 Max version of MacBook Pro 16 for pre-order. However, it is expected to launch in 2-3 weeks’ time.

The MacBook Pro 16 M2 Pro price in Nepal starts at Rs. 4,20,000 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD variant. Whereas, the M2 Max variant starts at Rs. 5,86,000 for the 32GB RAM + 1TB SSD configuration. It is now available for pre-order via Oliz Store.

Here, we’ll look at the specifications, features, and availability of the 16-inch MacBook Pro featuring M2 Pro and M2 Max in Nepal.

Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch M2 Pro/M2 Max Overview

Design

The 16-inch MacBook Pro measures 16.8mm thickness and weighs 2.15 kg (M2 Pro) and 2.16 kg (M2 Max). The design of the new 16-inch MacBook remains the same as the M1 Pro and M1 Max generation.

Likewise, the 2023 version of the MacBook Pro 16 carries the same keyboard as the 2022 M1 Pro/M1 Max generation.

Similarly, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack and three Thunderbolt 4 connections, an HDMI port, an SD card slot, and the redesigned MagSafe 3 charger.

Display

MacBook Pro 16 2023 features the same Liquid Retina XDR display. The 16.2-inch display uses mini-LED technology, which can provide up to 1,000 nits of sustained brightness and 1,600 nits of peak brightness.

The side and top borders have also been reduced to just 3.5mm. But, it now has a notch on the top that houses a 1080p camera.

Also, it uses the same ProMotion technology which allows the display on the MacBook Pro 16-inch to have an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

Its XDR display has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, P3 wide colour gamut, and supports one billion colour, thanks to the 10-bit colour panel.

Hardware

Same as the MacBook Pro 14-inch, the 16-inch models also feature Apple’s powerful SoCs: M2 Pro and M2 Max.

The M2 Pro-equipped 16-inch Macbook Pro has just a 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU option. The M2 Max, on the other hand, features the same 12-core CPU as the M2 Pro but with a choice of a 30 or 38-core GPU.

Apple claims that the M2 Pro and M2 Max have up to 20% better CPU performance than the M1 Pro/M1 Max. Furthermore, M2 Pro and M2 Max have up to 30% faster GPU performance than M1/M1 Max.

It comes standard with 16GB unified memory and 512GB of SSD storage. The M2 Pro version can be configured with up to 32GB unified memory and 8TB SSD storage. On the other hand, the M2 Max version can be configured with up to 96GB unified memory and 8TB SSD.

Battery

The 16-inch MacBook Pro has a 100Wh battery and Apple claims it can play movies for up to 22 hours on a single charge. It also supports fast charging and comes with a 140W USB-C Power Adapter and a USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable.

It can also be charged via a USB-C port.

The MacBook Pro 16 M2 Pro price in Nepal starts at Rs. 4,20,000 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD variant. Whereas, the M2 Max variant starts at Rs. 5,86,000 for the 32GB RAM + 1TB SSD configuration. It is now available for pre-order via Oliz Store.

The M2 Pro/M2 Max version of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro is an incremental upgrade. Unlike the first generation, it doesn’t bring a big leap in performance. Rather, it brings slightly more power and slightly more efficiency to the table compared to the M1 Pro/M1 Max chips.
