The price of the Apple MacBook Pro 13 2020 (M1) is reduced in Nepal after the launch of the M2-powered MacBook Pro 13 2022.

After the price cut, the Apple M1 MacBook Pro 13 price in Nepal is Rs. 1,89,000 (8-core GPU, 8/256GB) and Rs. 2,19,000 (8-core GPU, 8/512GB). While the price of the Apple M1 MacBook Air price in Nepal is Rs. 1,68,000 (8/256GB).

These are the first MacBooks from Apple with their own silicon. So, let’s see what both of these Apple laptops have to offer!

Build and Design

The design of the new MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro remains the same. There are no changes with both models from their previous iteration. Even the dimension and weight are identical to the previous Apple Macbook Air/Pro 2020 model.

They also feature the same Magic Keyboard that replaced the 4th gen Butterfly switches in the previous generation of MacBooks. They also retain the Touch ID.

One of the advantages of the MacBook Pro is that it has a touch bar on the top which is absent on the Air.

Display

M1 MacBook Air and M1 MacBook Pro use a 13.3-inch IPS Retina display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, along with P3 color gamut support which is essential for accurate colors for photographers and digital creatives.

It also comes with Apple’s True Tone technology which alters the colors of the display according to the ambient light you’re working in.

Hardware

The biggest addition to the M1 MacBook Air/Pro 2020 comes with what’s underneath the hood.

The M1 MacBook Air and M1 MacBook Pro both come with Apple’s own M1 chipset which is based on ARM cores.

It is an octa-core processor with four high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. The 8-core GPU is capable of running 25,000 threads simultaneously.

Along with that, it comes with a 16-core Neural Engine that can compute 11 trillion operations per second.

Apple claims that M1 has the world’s best CPU performance per watt and its GPU to be the fastest integrated GPU.

Both, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air use the same M1 chip with the same configuration. However, the base model of the M1 MacBook Air has a 7-core GPU instead of an 8-core GPU. For memory, M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro come with 8GB RAM and 256GB/512GB SSD.

M1 MacBook Air has a fan-less design so it will be silent no matter the use case. M1 MacBook Pro uses a cooling fan so, it should have better temperatures than the Air while doing intensive tasks.

Except for these, M1 MacBook Pro 2020 has a better speaker with a better dynamic range and uses a studio-quality mic setup.

Battery

M1 MacBook Air 2020 comes with a 49.9 watt-hour battery which is the same used on the previous MacBook Air The battery is the same as the previous model but its battery life is now improved up to 18 hours.

M1 MacBook Pro 2020 gets slightly better battery life than the Air M1 as it has a 58.2 watt-hour battery with a 61W USB-C power adapter.

The Apple M1 MacBook Pro 13 price in Nepal is Rs. 1,89,000 (8-core GPU, 8/256GB) and Rs. 2,19,000 (8-core GPU, 8/512GB). Initially, it was priced at Rs. 2,05,000 and Rs. 2,40,000, respectively. But after the launch of the new M2-powered MacBook Pro 13, the price of the M1 MacBook Pro dropped.

The Apple M1 MacBook Air price in Nepal is Rs. 1,68,000 (8/256GB). It comes with 1-year breakage insurance.

The laptops are available at stores such as Evo Store and Oliz Store, in Nepal.

MacBook Pro M1 and MacBook Air M1 are the first MacBooks with Apple’s own chipset. They have promised far better performance than their older MacBooks and the results are promising.

There’s not much difference between the M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. If you don’t do heavy tasks often then MacBook Air M1 will be enough for you.
