Apple iMac with M3 Finally Launched in Nepal

Apple unveiled the new 24-inch iMac featuring the M3 chip at its October 2023 “Scary Fast” event. Two months later, in late December, the iMac powered by the M3 chip arrived in Nepal, along with the new MacBook Pro 14 M3 and the MacBook Pro 16 M3.

The 2023 model 24-inch iMac with the M3 chip is an upgrade from the 2021 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip. Except for the chipset, hardly anything has changed.

Apple iMac M3 2023 Overview

Build and Design

Before the launch of the iMac with M1 in 2021, Apple had been using the same design for its iMacs for years. After bringing a major redesign with its previous iMac, it’s no surprise Apple will stick with this design for a while.

That is to say, the design of the iMac 24-inch M3 retains the same design as its previous model. You can choose from seven different vibrant colors, including blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange, and purple. However, the base model is only available in the first four colors. They all come with color-matched braided cables and accessories.

For ports, there are only two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40Gbps) ports on the rear and a 3.5mm audio jack on the left side. The upgraded models have two additional USB-C ports (10Gbps) and an Ethernet port integrated into the power adapters.

The standard iMac comes with a Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse combo. You can also configure it with Touch ID, Numeric Keypad, or Magic Trackpad.

Display

The 24-inch Retina display is a 4.5K panel with slim bezels and 11.3 million pixels. It comes with a P3-wide color gamut, over a billion colors, and 500 nits of brightness.

Performance

The new iMac comes with an Apple M3 chip and supports up to 24GB of unified memory. The chip has an 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. The entry-level variant comes with an 8-core GPU, whereas the high-level variant has a 10-core GPU.

Apple says it’s up to 2x faster than the previous generation with M1. Thanks to its new M3 GPU, the iMac supports hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing.

Other Features

The iMac now features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. It features a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a “studio-quality” microphones, and a six-speaker sound system.

Furthermore, the new iMac runs on macOS Sonoma.

Apple iMac M3 2022 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Apple 24-inch iMac with M3 chip in Nepal is Rs. 2,30,000 (8C GPU, 8/256GB), Rs. 2,65,000 (10C GPU, 8/256GB), and Rs. 2,99,000 (10C GPU, 8/512GB). They are available at Apple-authorized resellers: Oliz Store and EvoStore.

The iMac M3 is an updated version of the iMac M1, which was launched in 2021. The main upgrade in the M3 model is the new M3 chip.

Other minor improvements include the GPU now supporting ray-tracing, an upgrade from Wi-Fi 6 to Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0 to 5.3, and the iMac now supporting up to 24GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD. It’s worth noting that the 24GB/2TB model is not yet available in Nepal.

Other than that, it’s pretty much the same, with the same design, ports, display, and speaker system.
