OnePlus 8T Overview
Design
OnePlus 8T departs from OnePlus 8’s design with a rectangular camera module. The rear panel is made of glass with a satin finish and it’s protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
There’s a quad-camera setup on the rear and on the front, there’s a hole-punch and an under-display optical fingerprint sensor.
The glass back is curved along the edges where it meets the body-colored aluminum frame. OnePlus 8T still doesn’t have IP68 water and dust resistance like the 8 Pro.

Display
Unlike the OnePlus 8’s 90Hz refresh rate display, the OnePlus 8T has a 120Hz display. It has the same 6.55 inches FHD Fluid AMOLED display. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 as well.
The bezels are quite thin and similar to that of the OnePlus 8 but it is flatter than the OnePlus 8. On top of that, it also supports HDR10+ so you can easily watch HDR content on the OnePlus 8T too.
Hardware
OnePlus 8T uses the same chipset as the OnePlus 8; the Snapdragon 865 chipset. It’s a 7nm chipset with Octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 585 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 585 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 585) chipset and Adreno 650 GPU. Furthermore, it also supports 5G ready.
Then it comes with 256GB/128GB UFS 3.0 storage and 12GB/8GB RAM.
OnePlus 8 Pro is one of the fastest phones out there. Though it is not rocking the latest 865+ chipset, there’s not much difference between the Snapdragon 865 and the 865+.
Camera
OnePlus 8T rocks the same 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor used in OnePlus 8.
Then it has a 16MP IMX481 Ultrawide sensor with 116-degree FOV which is also the same as the OnePlus 8. The change comes in terms of an upgraded 5MP macro camera instead of 2MP and a new 2MP B/W sensor.
On the front, it has a 16MP sensor for selfies. It’s the same sensor as the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.
Battery
Underneath, the OnePlus 8T has a slightly upgraded 4500 mAh battery which should easily last for a day even with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Then, to juice up its battery, it comes with 65W Fast Charging which claims 100% charge in 39 min. This is one of the main upgrades the 8T is getting compared to the OnePlus 8.
Then, it runs on Oxygen OS 11 on top of Android 11.

With the new distributor Kratos Technologies, the pricing is a bit aggressive than it used to be. OnePlus 8T launch price is cheaper than the OnePlus 8’s launch price in Nepal. So, that’s good news going forward.
OnePlus 8T is the upgrade of the OnePlus 8 with a faster 65W fast charging, a higher 120Hz refresh rate display, a bigger 4,500mAh battery, and an extra camera.
So, it is not much of an upgrade in terms of performance but the bigger battery and faster charging is definitely an upgrade. Except that, it also has a higher refresh rate 120Hz display.
