Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Overview
Design
The rotating bezel is back! The spinning dial really gives it a unique vibe. For controls, there are two side buttons for back and home functions.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is 8% smaller, 14% thinner and 15% lighter than the first Galaxy Watch. The main body is made up of stainless steel whereas the straps are made up of genuine leather. However, you don’t get extra rubber strap in the box like you get on the Huawei Watch GT 2.
The 41mm version that I’m currently testing is way more compact than the Huawei Watch GT 2 and feels small for someone like me with a big wrist. It also has 5ATM / IP68 water resistance so it can handle splashes and spill pretty easily.

Display
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 features a 1.2-inch AMOLED display on the 41mm version whereas the 45mm features a 1.4-inch AMOLED display. The screen has a resolution of 360×360 pixels. The screen is bright, sharp, and has an always-on feature. You can easily use it outdoors in sunlight.
Then, you have a huge collection of 50,000 watch faces. I haven’t yet explored many watch faces but I’m stuck with a fitness-centric watch face for now.
Features
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 has a lot of features. You can track a total of 40 activities and 7 of them can be tracked automatically.
The sleep tracking feature is there as well. This time Samsung has partnered with National Sleep institute to provide Galaxy Watch 3 wearers with insight on their REM cycle and sleep quality.
Samsung is also touting the built-in ECG and blood pressure monitoring however its only available in South Korea. And, it will arrive in the US well.
Blood oxygen monitoring is now supported on Watch 3 which lets you know the efficiency of your breathing and respiratory system. VO2max measuring is included in Watch 3 as well. This tracks the amount of oxygen your body is using during exercise. You have to manually measure this.
The Galaxy Watch 3 has another nice safety feature called trip detection. The watch’s accelerometer can sense if you’ve fallen and if it does, it will send SMS to up to four predefined contacts. This will be very useful for someone who has seizures frequently.
