eSewa, the first digital payment gateway of Nepal, has recently crossed 5 Lakh downloads on Google Play Store. The application is a payment portal that can be used to make online payments, pay utility bills, transfer funds to various banks, receive money or set up a merchant account.
eSewa is the most popular payment gateway of Nepal. As of today, it has been operating for more than 8 years. Compared to other payment applications operating in Nepal like iPay and Khalti, eSewa has a larger number of services that allow payment services. eSewa also has the largest number of banking partners which has made it a popular option for the citizens.
Only in July of last year, eSewa got mobile money license for cashless mobile transactions, which officially allowed eSewa to provide digital wallet service. As compared to digital wallet applications like Khalti which has 1,00,000+ downloads, eSewa has a much larger user base with 500,000+ downloads.
